25.01.2022 WOW!!! Ever since we started our group we wanted not only to clean up our community but show just how great our community really is and to silence the knockers.... Today we recieved two letters from Centacare Evolve Housing Chairperson Ray Brown. The first letter was to Ange and I, it reads. Dear Mark & Ange., Peoples Choice Awards Presentations . I very much appreciate having been invited to the Award Presentation held on Monday 6th July 2020, and together with Sheryl and on behalf of CEH receiving a Thank You Certificate, which we will proudly display in our offices. The whole evening was exceptionally well organised and run, and whilst to most people it looks as though it all just happens, I know that a enormous amount of thought and effort goes into ensuring that an evening such as that is a success, which it undoubtedly was. I can certainly reiterate on behalf of the CEH Board and all at CEH that we will continue to do what we can to support your efforts, our thanks to you and Ange for all that you do for your community I attach my letter to the board to give the man insight into how a community works and binds together. As a small gesture off appreciation to both you and Ange I enclosed a joint gift voucher, keep up the great work that you are doing. Kind regards. Ray Brown CEH Chair. Centacare Evolve Housing. (Letter to CEH Board Members) I was invited as Chair of CEH to attend the Inaugural "Peoples Choice Awards Presentations" held at the Brighton Civic Centre on the evening of Monday 6th of July 2020. Basically, residents of the Brighton area (so it was not confined to the Bridgewater Community) were invited to nominate persons who had made contributions to the community, 150 people were nominated. The whole community, through the Bridgewater/Gagebrook Clean Up Groups Facebook page, were then invited to vote on the nominees. The top 20 vote getters recieved awards and they were given in order of votes recieved. Many businesses sponsored the event and prize. CEH contributed through the hire of the Civic Centre, purchace of the winners trophy, biscuits and Barnstaple coffee for super and ongoing support through our Community Development Officer, Sheryl Rainbird. Im not giving a full report on the event, because it will be written up in the "Brighton Community News" which ill circulateand you can see the live streaming on the Bridgewater/Gagebrook Clean Up Groups Facebook page. I just wanted to share a couple of things with you. 1. The whole event was thought up by Mark Bartlett and Ange Knight (they are the drivers of the Clean Up Group). They dont do this for pats on the backs or a AO, they do it because they do it for their community. I will, on behalf of the board, send them a thankyou and voucher of some sort. They are good people doing good things. 2. A young chap who lives in Bridgewater, name of Jordan who would be about 20 or 21, came about 5th. Jordan has over the last 5 years or so as raised about FORTY THOUSAND DOLLERS for the Royal Hobart Hospitals Children Ward. I sat there and thought, this young bloke, from a very disadvantaged community has taken it upon himself to raise money to help young kids. What a good person. Well at the end of proceedings a loccafe owner came to the front to thank Mark and Ange and then said to Jordan that in some small way of thanking him, Jordan could for the rest of the year have what ever he liked at the Cafe free of charge. It got better than that, because the local KFC Manager, after the event had concluded, offered Jordan a job. That to me, is community. The whole Evening and the lead up to it was about the Community coming together and they did that in spades. The event was thought up, promoted and driven by the community. The role of CEH is to be a supporter of events such as this and to thank and encourage Mark and Ange, and there are others, to build their community. Kind regards. Ray Brown. CEH Chair. Centacare Evolve Housing. We stoked to recieve these letters, as long as we have the support from you guys we will keep going . We were given a voucher to St Albi Bar & Eatery . We are proud to be just a small part of this great community. Mark & Ange.
