05.01.2022 Shark update: the white shark (male) in our area around Woodbridge at the moment was initially tagged in Coffs Harbour NSW and was 2.84 m in length but would no...w be upwards of 3.2 m. The last update of its position on the NSW shark tracking website was back in July when it was near Flinders Island (Shark 290 at www.sharksmart.nsw.gov.au/shark-activity). According to www.csiro.au//Oceans-/Sharks/White-shark-research-findings "shark tracking and genetic studies reveal there are two white shark populations in Australia, an eastern population (ranging along the east coast from Tasmania to central Queensland) and a southern-western population ranging from western Victoria to northwest Western Australia. This population structuring east and west of Bass Strait is consistent with a number of other species of sharks, finfish and invertebrate species in Australian waters".
