21.01.2022 A beautiful Spring day in HobartTown and the tulips are blooming. The Tearooms closed Monday and Tuesdays so we headed north to support our Tulip producers at Wynyard. 08.01.2022 Several wonderful Nans & Grans had high tea in the Tearooms yesterday and shared some amazing stories with us. Margaret looked at our mural of Elizabeth St (see pic attached) now the Mall, and told us how she travelled to Ogilvie High on the double decker tram. She was 9. Father said don’t go upstairs on the tram because the boys will pinch your hat and throw it away. I was a pretty girl. You’re still a pretty nan ... Another Gran told us how she lived upstairs in the Union Bank building ( same picture) and how grandad who was the Bank Manager, put his two budgerigars out on the balcony every morning. She also mentioned the 2 lion heads above the bank doors are now located at the entrance of St David’s Park and Salamanca Place. 06.01.2022 What a treat to visit the Hobart Town Tea Co. Year 9 and 10 Chinese students were recently treated to a Chinese afternoon tea experience where they learned abou...t the rich history and culture of tea drinking in China from Lili Sun-Christie, who taught at St Mary's College in 2019. The group then enjoyed high tea, ordering their food and tea in Chinese, and chose and named their own delicious blends, which were individually labelled and packaged for the students to take home. What a nice way to enjoy a unique and beautiful cup of tea! See more

We close Mondays & Tuesdays and this Monday were invited by National Seniors Hobart to speak about the Tearooms and history of HobartTown John Stephenson curator of Beattie Studios joined the stage with us and together we presented some interesting stories and photos from Beatties ... It was a lot of fun - thank you to a wonderful association. Many of its members have contributed so much to our community and have one or two interesting stories to tell. We have met many amazing seniors in the Tearooms who have shared amazing stories about riding the trolley buses, and their convict grandparents. Incredible stories of the past.
