21.01.2022 Do you recognise this man? Step back in time on Saturdays with us as we dive in to some Hobie Cat history! We begin in 1983 at the Worrell 1000 in the USA. An amazing endurance event challenged in Hobie 16’s where the tacking duals lasted for several hours. Starting in Fort Lauderdale Fl and finishing at Virginia Beach Va. ... That’s young Rod Waterhouse! Racing with skipper Brett Dryland, the Aussie team won the event fairly convincingly. Their team manager Don Algie was quoted saying They’re top sailors in excellent physical condition, and they’re also good friends. But most importantly, they really, really want to win. With his wife Kerry, Rod won the 2015 Hobie 16 Open Australian Championships. #hobiehistory #hobie16 #hobiecat16

20.01.2022 Awesome to see Nedlands Yacht Club featured in the Australian Sailing news - Club in Focus. The home of a very stong Hobie fleet in Perth. Including almost 30 Hobie 16's and now a Hobie Wild Cat (F18) too. And don't those Hobie 16's look so impressive lined up on the club lawn. ... Hobie sailors racing on the Swan River in Perth enjoy a wonderful facility at NYC where they can roll their boats out of a secure compound, on to the club lawn, rig up and launch off the beach straight on to the race course area. Spectators ashore can sit on the club verandah and watch the fast and fun Hobie racing in Melville Water right in front of the club. A great community with friendly and dedicated volunteers and staff. Keen to get in to sailing? contact the club and get ready for next summer! we hope to see you on a Hobie Cat. 02.01.2022 Unfortunately we have just received communication from Vincentia Sailing Club who have declined to host the 20/21 Hobie Nationals. The ANHCA are working hard to find an alternative venue. We will update you all as soon as we have more information.

02.01.2022 Dear Hobie Sailors, The Organising Authorities have decided to postpone the WA Hobie State Championship in Esperance on the long Easter weekend due to the development of the corona virus. This decision hasn't been made lightly but the health of all competitors, volunteers and the broader community was central to this decision. The Hobie WA Class Association fully supports the decision made by Esperance Bay Yacht Club and we ask our members to do the same please.... I know this decision is disappointing for everyone and especially for Paul and Esperance Bay Yacht Club who have put in a lot of work to make this a great event. But with the increasing spread of COVID-19 we all need to play our part in containing the virus. And it is also very unclear what the situation will be by Easter. We are still trying to hold the States at a different date this year, possibly in conjunction with the Cat Classic in September. This of course all depends on how the situation will evolve in the months to come. Esperance still wants to host the States at a later date and we are currently looking at possible dates next year. I know that most of you have already booked accommodations in Esperance and I hope that you can get most of your money back. Paul suggested to ask if you can hold your accommodation until next year but this of course is everyone's own decision. Please let me know if you need any official notice from the Association that the event has been postponed. All Teams that have already registered for the States will be informed in the coming weeks on any available refunds. We will try our best to have the States this year if possible and I thank you for your patience and understanding at this difficult time. Please stay safe and healthy. Kind Regards Robin Dinsdale

01.01.2022 Its time to stay at home but we can still share our favorite Hobie images and let our friends around the world know how we are going and what we are doing. We cant travel to regattas or sail in our club racing but we can all keep in touch with our Hobie community around the world So join in our hashtag and share, Hobie maintenance at home, Hobie learning at home, dreaming about your Hobie at home or just share your favorite pic for a bit of Hobie history at home.... We kick this off by reposting this classic pic by Jens Hannemann at the Prosail Events Hobie World Cat in Sylt with two of our Perth bred Hobie sailors Chris Hancock and Alex Young. Your turn to share #HobiesAtHome #hobie16 #hobieteamwa #hobiecat16 #hobie
