19.01.2022 Hobo Playhouse was absolutely rapt to work with these two very talented creatives - Anne Southall, Course Coordinator Master of Inclusion and Diversity, and actor Adeline (Del) Johnstone on a La Trobe University education film shoot today. Thanks for turning up dressed in character Del (you nailed the look, the character and the performance) and big thanks to Ben, our filmmaker, for such a terrific shoot.

19.01.2022 Like other theatre companies, Hobo Playhouse has cancelled its upcoming film and theatre projects including our performance of a remount of Biting the Hand by Anne Southall in Bendigo in August. (Most of the cast are pictured here). But the Hobos will be back, bigger and better than ever, later in the year. Stay tuned! In the meantime our Artistic Director, Jeffrey Bryant Jones, is working online with local actors on their monologues. It’s a great way for each of us to keep our hand in and to stay connected. We’re aiming to bring some online content to you soon. Take care and stay well. From everyone at Hobo Playhouse :)

13.01.2022 The Global Reading of Sharaf At 5am this morning a wonderfully exciting theatrical experience was had. Eight creatives- actors, film makers a director and the ...writer met on zoom from all around the world, the USA, London, Egypt to have the first global read of a new Wolves play set simultaneously in Australia and an Arabic country. Written for an Iraqi Australian, a refugee from the first Gulf war, and exploring an honour killing, the play is an epic tragedy populated with poor people both from the country it is set in and USA. And it was fantastic. A long and dense play it had humour was, powerful, raw and engaging. It also avoided any clichés. Our plan now is to do a few more zoom rehearsals before attempting a global live read. The play is called Sharaf (Honour). Rohana Hayes Producer
