19.01.2022 When libraries had to close around Victoria, librarians thought of special ways to keep connecting with our community. From digital storytimes to book delivery services, libraries have gone above and beyond to maintain this important community service. Read about how Hobsons Bay Libraries helped deliver guitars to local households, thanks to a partnership with Guitars Gathering Dust, which provides schools with reconditioned instruments for music students. https://www.theguardian.com//when-covid-closed-the-library

18.01.2022 The festive spirit is alive and well in Hobsons Bay. The lovely members of the Seabreeze Quilters harnessed the power of their inner elves and got to work on sewing Christmas decorations for all of Council’s Meals on Wheels clients. Their work, included about 190 gifts, such as quilts, table runners, Xmas trees, pillows, mug holders, placemats, heat packs, buntings and small stockings. It was so thoughtful and well received. Thank you Seabreeze Quilters

18.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day? It's a time to check in on each other and remember that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? Hobsons Bay's 2020 Citizen of the Year Myly Nguyen has a very special message she'd like to share with our community. "Today is R U OK Day? It is not a celebration but a time to remember how important it is to reach out and connect with those around you, particularly now, in this challenging time.... "It is OK to not feel OK as each day of lockdown is different. Some days you feel like have a routine figured out and some days you don't. "When days like that occur, remember to do deep breathing and remove some of the pressure that put on yourself. "Make staying connected a new daily routine by calling someone, sending an SMS or email to someone that you haven't chatted with for a while, or you might just chat over the fence with your neighbour. "Let start conversations today that can transform someone's day." Myly Nguyen 2020 Citizen of the Year President of Vietnamese Association in Hobsons Bay Executive Member of Interfaith Network in Hobsons Bay
