13.01.2022 Always question, always wonder.... We love Science Week at Hocking Stars as it encourages new discoveries and helps us learn more about the world! Science week is closely connected to Outcome 4 of our EYLF framework and it has been wonderful seeing the excitement and enjoyment that this week has provoked. We have had so much fun exploring, predicting, observing and engaging in different experiments throughout the week and this has also been a great opportunity for educators and children to learn new things together! We have had experiments that look at colour changing, forces and motion, chemical reactions and so much more! Please check the daily discoveries or ask one of our educators for more in depth details about the experiments that your child participated in!

12.01.2022 This Friday is Red Nose Disco Day! We will be dancing up a storm at Hocking Stars to raise awareness and would love to see you dressing in bright colours or 80s themed to join in the cause! We are asking for a gold coin donation if you participate to donate to Red Nose!

11.01.2022 Just a little snapshot of our Halloween celebrations - there have been some fabulous costumes and we have enjoyed joining in some Halloween themed activities! Halloween is not traditionally a big holiday in Australia, however in previous years Spooky Hall and the Hocking/Pearsall community have made it a lot of fun to participate in! The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Over time, Halloween has evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes and eating treats.

11.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder that we are celebrating book week next week at Hocking Stars. Please feel free to send your child in with their favourite book(s) throughout the week and we will be having a dress up day on the Friday 13th to celebrate our favourite characters

10.01.2022 Happy Educators Day! A big shout out to the fabulous educators in our team - Thank you for always going above and beyond and for being the passionate, dedicated and amazing educators that you are! We hope that today you feel truly appreciated! Parents, there is an appreciation station set up in the foyer if you would like to share a few kind words about your child's educators :)

08.01.2022 Another big thank you to everyone who donated a gold coin on Friday for the Red Nose Disco. We raised $81 for the Red Nose Foundation which contributed towards them raising over $575,000 :)

05.01.2022 Hi families, Just a reminder that we will be closed Monday 28th September for the Queens Birthday Public Holiday. Business will resume as usual on the Tuesday :) Unfortunately we don't have any spaces available during the school holidays but if you need a make up day in lieu we will try our best to fit you in once school goes back. Thanks,... Hocking Stars Team :) See more

04.01.2022 Enjoying the sunshine... The Early Years Learning Framework highlights the importance of using the outdoor environment. We are lucky at Hocking Stars to have a wide veranda that surrounds the service, shade sails and rain suits so that we can utilize the outdoors no matter the weather. The children love being able to go outside with all of the different age groups and play with siblings, cousins and/or friends of different ages. It also provides the opportunities to build rel...ationships with educators from the other rooms which supports in transitions and room changes when they occur. So much learning takes place during outdoor play as children explore, problem solve, create and construct and are given opportunities to learn new skills and ideas with support from their older age peers. The educators use these 'teachable' moments as well to support, discuss, intentionally teach and extend the children's learning, thinking and knowledge about their world. 04.01.2022 Today we had Old Macdonald's Travelling Farm come out to visit us as an extension of learning from the Toddler’s planning cycle. We had so much fun interacting with the different animals and were even able to help feed them, groom them, pat and hold some of the smaller animals. This hands-on experience encouraged the children to be safe, gentle and respectful when handling the animals and helped build connections between farming and their role in caring for animals. Connections and continuity between learning experiences in different settings make learning more meaningful and increase children’s feelings of belonging (Outcome 4, EYLF).

03.01.2022 80s Red Nose Disco Day! Today we danced up a storm and joined in some red themed activities to raise awareness for Red Nose and safe sleeping! Thank you to everyone who participated and/or donated :)
