23.01.2022 Hock the Ruby will closed for the footy public holiday this Friday. We are open as usual on Sat and Sun 8:30am - 4pm.

23.01.2022 We are all well rested now @ Hock the Ruby. Thank you for welcoming us back today and for understanding our need for holidays!!! We are now doing all day breakfast and are loving our latest lemon delicious porridge. Divine . The kitchen is open from 8:30-2 Fri to Sun and we look forward to catching up with you all soon.

15.01.2022 We wish you a fabulous festive season with your loved ones Some of us had more fun than others . We will reopen on Friday 10th Jan at 8:30am to see you all. Our fabulous pop-up shop, Seasonal Concepts, will remain open to keep you entertained through the holidays (Fri-Sun)

14.01.2022 Well folks it’s been a looong year but we have some exciting news for you all. Covid-19 has forced us all to reassess and make some changes. I for one did eventually have to hock that ruby but fortunately just to my husband!!! We have been super busy during lock down and have relocated Adam’s regional practice, Northern Centre of Natural Healing, to Tallarook (previously in Seymour). Adam (chiro) has a beautiful team of staff and therapists who have been caring for our comm...unity for 25 years. I am keeping my eye on them to make sure they look after that divine 1940s wall paper in the original cafe! Our beloved chef, Clara, has now decided to hang up her apron and retire so I have finally began creating the art space I had always intended in my beautiful studio and shed!!! And what better place to crank up the fabulous Synesso coffee machine . We will be serving Melbourne’s best hand-made bagels from Aviv in Elsternwick along with some of Nana’s delicious cakes and the usual Reverence coffee. We are spoilt also to have O’Keefe’s IGA supplying us . Some of you might have had a sneak-peak inside Mr Winnell’s amazing old shed when we hosted the fabulous Seasonal Concepts pop-up shop this time last year. Our opening hours are: Fri, Sat & Sun 8:30am - 1:30pm We have had some gorgeous taste testers in today and it was so lovely to see your happy masked faces . It was wonderful to hear the news of new babies, new pets, new homes and grand holiday refunds. Future plans will include arts workshops and gallery sales primarily in photography and ceramics. I’m currently doing an MA in Photography so have plenty of new work in production. The shed has taken the name of Silver Princess - an ode to both silver process photography (B&W) and the most divine trees in our garden. We are not taking bookings but are rotating our tables at least every hour in line with Covid restrictions. So there you have it, enough about us and we can’t wait to hear all about you when you come and visit Silver Princess . Rebecca, Nana & Lillian

In times like these, we need each other more than ever, at least until the Government permits us to remain open . We ask politely for those of you who are sick and snuffly please stay in the comfort of your own home and come and visit when you are better. 11.01.2022 Thankfully, the Great Victorian Rail Trail has not been directly impacted by the bushfires across Victoria. However, the towns connected by the trail have all s...een a massive reduction in visitors during this peak tourism period. We'd love to see the trail flowing with people again! The air quality is improving and there's more favourable weather ahead. It would be wonderful if you could help make our great rail trail busy over the coming weeks. Enjoy a ride or walk into towns like Mansfield, Alexandra, Yarck, Yea and Tallarook. Then, head into the many cafes, shops and small businesses to reward yourself and maybe pick up something to remember the experience. 04.01.2022 Hock the Ruby is thrilled to announce that one of the countries most desired emporiums will be opening a pop-up-shop in our magnificent garage from this Friday! Prepare to be amazed by the mastery of Ken Wallis, TR Keller and Seasonal Concepts (previously of Redfern). Never be...fore has there been a more fitting time to swing open the huge doors of Mr Winnell’s old garage (still in part my studio and darkroom - it’s enormous in there). Ken will be open until Christmas, Fri-Sun 9am-4pm, just like the cafe. More unique treasures you will not find or you might just like a bunch of flowers (Ken is also a florist by trade). You are definitely going to need our delicious coffee and cake afterwards! It is mind-blowing in there. Only two more sleeps ...

02.01.2022 The cafe will be closed next Saturday 13th October for a family wedding. We are very sorry to inconvenience you all. We promise to be business as usual the next day (Sunday 14th) and will be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 8:30am. Thank you for your understanding

02.01.2022 Sadly poor Bobby was found dead after a slippery customer got the better of him . RIP Bobby and thank you to everyone who kept an eye out for him in and around Tallarook. I'm sure his owner is feeling very lonely as he looked like a beautiful loyal boy
