23.01.2022 This one is definitely a very happy lyrebird, full of song and impersonations. He ran right past Miranda and i after this cheery outburst.
22.01.2022 We are terribly saddened by the fires in East Gippsland, NSW, Canberra and South Australia. Here at Hoddles Hideaway in the Yarra Ranges we are fortunately safe, due to cooler temperatures and occasional rain. So please keep visiting rural Victoria. Country people need tourists and its very safe up here. Hoddles Hideaway has a policy that, if it was very hot/ unsafe, we would cancel the booking and refund your money. But, all good up here. I have started a Koala Habitat Project on Facebook to grow habitat for koalas. We are lucky to have some koalas up here. They are so precious. We are also donating to Wildlife Victoria , $50 per booking.

15.01.2022 So beautiful....nature at its best. and the fairies have been!!
15.01.2022 Our first ever wildlife release today. Seeing we have 40 acres with 160 acres of forest next door, we thought we would like to rehome wildlife here. So three lovely ringtail possums are being soft released here from South Oakleigh Wildlife Shelter. They will live here in their aviary for 7 nights, getting used to the sounds of their new area and tastes of local gum tree leaves. Then, they will have their hatch opened and will travel along the rope attached to the possum box waiting for them on a gumtree. They will probably come and go for a while, then, they will no longer need the aviary and it can be used elsewhere. The Blue Tongue was just a cutie we found under a branch.
