24.01.2022 I am determined to learn how to use this forum and plan to spend at least an hour here each day. I hope to have some tutorials for you soon, starting with how to make gem trees. I will take photos of each stage to show you all. If this works well then I will do some more on puppetry and papier mache work. I have spent 60 years in arts and crafts and still learning new crafts. I would love to share my knowledge with you and encourage more people to get busy with their hands. I... have never had a lot of money to spare but people are amazed at what I can make for next to nothing. Because I have been known to make many items for charity people have given me money and materials over the years and not my stash is bursting at the seams. I will be set for my retirement. I hope to get many more followers to share my love of arts and crafts. See more

18.01.2022 Got some yarn from Hobbi and very pleased. Just wish I had more money to spend while they have these bargain prices. Love the 200gm Cotton Kings - started the purple throw using the yarn. I have another batch on order

17.01.2022 Must start adding to this forum more often. I am almost finished the base for a latched rug. I could not afford to buy the rug mesh - quite expensive to buy. I decided to unravel an old jumper and crochet a base - the mesh size worked out about the same using a double crochet stitch. Because I do not have multiple balls of one colour I decided to use up all my brown remnants of wool cut into 2-3" lengths to latch-hook onto the base and it is turning out a great project. I use...d a single crochet for 5-6 rows around the edge to give a more finished edge and increased 1/20 stitches for the first row and then 12 increases each row (about 700 stitches in each row by this stage. The double crochet was increased 12 stitches each round for the body. It will take me a week or two to finish the latching and then I shall post a pic of the rug. I am always looking for ways to recycle and often unravel old jumpers - they may have holes or be stained. Often one can create great items at no cost - just time and effort and recycling is fun. Now that I am retired I have more time. Please feel free to share any ideas as well. See more

02.01.2022 I am so excited to be surrounded by all this new yarn I cannot wait to finish one project before starting another. At the moment I have four projects at the same time. I am making my latched rug, a scrap afghan, a throw with the purple cotton yarn using a pineapple pattern and I am trying out a butterfly pattern tablecloth using the peach cotton yarn. I adore Pinterest and spend so many hours browsing - so many arts and crafts and so stimulating to see what others are creatin...g.My boards and pins are growing every day as I find more ideas. While many patterns seem to be very complicated, most can be worked out if you go slowly and row by row. I am loving this butterfly pattern and will add some additional bits to the filet pattern. I have made the centre with petal segments and then started the filet work for the butterflies. I will find a nice border to finish off the round tablecloth and have four 50gm balls of peach shades to work with, darker in the centre and edge and lighter for the butterflies section. I just need to keep increasing 12 stitches each round to keep the piece flat and even and I do the increasing at the junction of the panels. I am making 6 butterflies (started with a round of 144 stitches) When I have finished the butterflies I shall count the stitches and work out the border. I am finding this yarn so much easier to crochet- still having problems with the "cotton king" yarn because the strands are loose and keep catching so I will wait until I can find my other crochet hooks and get a slightly larger one to work with. I am currently using a 3.5 hook for the Hobbi rainboiw yarn (about 4-5ply) See more
