This action was taken with the intention to support job creation and the recovery of the Australian economy caused by the global pandemic. In Australia, economic recovery is expected to be under way and positive GDP growth achieved in the September quarter, despite the lengthy and tight restrictions in Victoria.... The Board is not expecting to increase the cash rate for at least three years, and they have explicitly stated they are prepared to do more if necessary. Leading indicators and measures have generally picked up, suggesting that the worst of the economic damage has already passed.
