21.01.2022 Ok. Here goes- THANK YOU. First and foremost thank you SEI-SHIHAN GOHO. ... You brought Hokushin Shinoh Ryu to Australia 40 years ago, and if not for that, none of this would have ever been imaginable. The diverse range of people who have been brought together from various places and backgrounds is amazing. It is a testament to all your work and efforts over the last 4 decades. GRAND MASTER TORU. We all truly appreciate you taking the time to visit us from Japan. Your presence and wisdom is greatly valued and we hope to see you again soon. SHIHAN TAKEO. Our new KAICHO. Congratulations. We all know that the OhGo-Kai is in good hands and we look forward to this exciting future. SHIHAN TAO. The balance you have between your warm and welcoming personality, and your explosive yet calm technique, has made all the people who trained with you, want to look for something like this within themselves. Your loyalty and service to SeiShihan is truly inspiring. DAMIEN SENSEI. emails, lists, finances, fliers, banners, timetables, reminders, chasing up things, Co-ordinating the fundraising at the Bendigo Dojo which raised about $1500 (Well done guys). Only you will know all the things you have done. HERVE SENSEI and Sue, for hosting Sei Shihan and JongMin for the week, and Max Sensei for driving them around. The cultural groups- Big start to the weekend with the powerful Taiko drumming of Wadaiko Rindo on Saturday morning. The tea ceremony on Sunday morning with Chado.Urasenke Tankokai really set the tone for the day. Both Informative and beautiful. Junko Azukawa with the calligraphy display. What a finale to the event. I think everyone could feel the energy in the hall. 3 different groups, but it is so relatable to us as each group displayed such Ki and ZanShin in their own way. TARGET CUTTING. SeiShihan has been wanting to do this for a very long time, he really appreciates all who participated and all who helped with the planning and running of the event. Everything went smoother than I thought it would. BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Devlyn Yarrick from the Bendigo dojo who was the winner of this first competition. Rhys(Victoria) in second place and Shane(Victoria) in third. Well done. Well done to those who graded. Especially the high grades Sunday afternoon, after a long weekend of training. A special note - ROBERT SENSEI. I first met Robert 12 years in Auckland and I was amazed then at his technique and teaching style. Now 12 years later to watch him grade for 8th Dan in front of Grand Master, Sei Shihan and the other Shihans was quite a privilege. A huge congratulations on passing, and becoming the first SHIHAN in New Zealand. AMAZING. Thanks to all the INSTRUCTORS who helped (too many to name), and everybody who came. Especially those who had to travel. It was great to see so many from New Zealand, Adelaide and Canberra. I think we had 45 Members attend. I feel like I didn’t get a chance to train with you all, or to catch up properly, but will look forward to next time. Don’t forget that if you are ever in Melbourne we would love for you to visit our Dojo. My parents, Alan and Genevieve, and also Cheryl and Lisa, for all the work with registration, writing certificates and selling mementos. I don’t know what I would have done without you. CABLE WILLIAMS for filming the whole event. Thanks for putting up with all my requests. I will be eagerly looking forward to seeing some of the footage. Finally our amiable photographer WILL. The beautiful photos attached are from him. We are quite lucky to have him to be able to do such a great job for us. I think Damien Sensei will post a heap more of Wills photos once he culls a few from the 5000 taken, so keep an eye out. And just like that its all over. Thank you all again. Sorry if I missed anyone.
11.01.2022 What an incredible weekend! Huge thanks to Grandmaster Toru, Sei Shihan, Shihan Takeo and Shihan Tao for teaching us all over the two days. Also our demonstrato...rs Junko Azukawa, Chado Urasenke Tankokai Melbourne and Wadaiko Rindo who fired us all up with their Taiko drumming on Saturday. And of course Tim Sensei who spent months on the preparation, and Genevieve and Alan, Cheryl, Lisa, Will, Cable.. the event wouldn’t have happened without your support, and you all helped it run so smoothly. Hokushin Shinoh Ryu Iaido is truly a family. It was wonderful to catch up with everyone. See you all in 2030 - Damien
