15.01.2022 There are multiple fires burning from Cooma to Bega and a number of these pose a serious threat to life. We urge you to seriously consider if you should be in this area tomorrow. There may potentially be new fires burning in these areas that we do not yet know about, which may threaten you without warning. This map displays the predicted fire spread in the Southern Slopes area for New Year’s Eve 2019. The map indicates the communities that are expected to come under threat fr...om embers or fire fronts. Other areas surrounding these fires may still come under threat if conditions change such as forecasts, or fires breaking containment lines. Severe fire danger is forecast for this area tomorrow and conditions will be very dangerous due to high temperatures, strong winds and low humidity. A southerly change is forecast to pass across these fires tomorrow which will see erratic wind and fire behaviour. It is likely that under these conditions, major roads such as the Princes Highway may be closed at short notice due to fire activity. You should consider this as part of your travel plans. www.rfs.nsw.gov.au
