14.01.2022 When you go for road trips through the country, is there anything about the landscape that always catches your eye? Rolling hills, tree lines, sheep or cattle, houses? For us it’s rusty old sheds. WE ARE OBSESSED! . You can drive for miles and all you see are paddocks, livestock and then far in the distance, an old shearing shed or an old stone cottage with a rusty tin roof. The sheer strength of these old world buildings always gets us thinking. Who built them? How long hav...e they been there? How many sheep have been up the ramp? Who used to live there? . But the biggest thing that stands out is their longevity. They’ve aged, they’ve worn, they’ve rusted but they’ve stood the test of time and they are still standing. We have so much to learn from the way things used to be. History is a beautiful teacher. . 11.01.2022 Hold Cottage exceeded all my expectations and it was so good to finally see it in person. There’s so much care and thought put into every item in the cottage. You can feel the local community from the moment you step inside, smell the fresh bread, cuddle up with the throws, sip the specially crafted tea and then stroll the streets of Gunning. The warmth and calm you feel is something I wish I could bottle and take with me! It was a perfect day to explore Gunning, enjoy the s...unshine and feel at home within The Hold Cottage. 09.01.2022 Have you ever had a dream that always felt way out of your reach? Something that you thought would always be just that...a dream? . We have been @countrystylemag readers for a very, very long time. Collecting each issue out of the letterbox every month has been a highlight for years. Lusting and swooning over every page. Thinking what it would be like to see your own country home spilled across the pages. How amazing and surreal it would feel. And it was always just a dream.... . Until one winters day when we received a message from @belljarinteriors asking if we would open up the cottage for her and @brigidarnottphotography to come and shoot for Country Style. In complete denial and total shock, of course said yes! . All of a sudden that dream was coming true. But it was so much more than just OUR dream. It was also about our region and shining a little light on our town, Gunning. This town has brought our family such genuine happiness. A true sense of community. Finding Gunning has been life changing for us. And we love being able to share it with our guests who travel from near and far to experience just why this town and region is so special. . The November issue of Country Style was released today and to sit and see our humble little cottage sitting within its pages was a very surreal moment. We are grateful beyond words for this opportunity. The hugest thank you to each and everyone one of you who follows, shares, stays and supports us. None of this would be possible without you x . Country stays are all about the slowing down and that’s why when you stay with us, you will find a beautiful tea selection by the @tea.garden.co. Vintage fowler jars sit on the kitchen bench, ready for you to boil the kettle, brew a pot and slow down. Our tea is so popular, we go through far more tea than we do coffee. . We are on the home stretch to Xmas and what a year it...’s been for this little cottage. We cannot thank you all enough for your support. Along with many more guests to come before we close the door for the year, we have a few more workshops that we are super excited about. 05.01.2022 Like so many this year, we have all felt a bit stifled due to social isolation and not being able to travel. . Connection and community were always part of our ethos at Hold Cottage and that’s where our workshop series began. It has been our savior this year. Being able to bring people together (COVID safely) in the country to learn and create has been the best thing about 2020. . We have two workshops coming up in October and tickets are still available. The first one is on... Saturday 24 October with @luluandsis learning the art of cookie decorating. Just in time for Xmas! There is nothing better than giving and receiving handmade gifts. . We would love for you to join us for a day in the country. The drive to Gunning is nothing short of spectacular at the moment with blossoms popping everywhere and green hills for miles.
