20.01.2022 The main challenge with the Holdfast hoop is getting it out of the ground. We have broken a number of single lift devices An arm and fulcrum is not enough to move them. Over the past several months I have been working on a design that lifts the Holdfast hoop vertical out of the ground.The action avoids the forced leaning of the hoop. Leaning the hoop widens the hole ,puts extra load on the lever fulcrum lifter. And to make the action of the ZAC lifter even easier it is a foot push down action. the pictures are of the final prototype. Production starts immediately.

19.01.2022 Greetings to all Croquet players some very interesting news. I recently send a Holdfast Hoop to the Croquet Association in England for assessment. The results are back. I am very happy to announce that HOLDFAST HOOPS ARE NOW CA APPROVED.

18.01.2022 I have secured my supply of 32oz. white rubber mallets. If you don't want black marks on your "new" hoops a white rubber mallet is the way to go. Price $20.00 plus P&P if I cannot deliver to your Club.

17.01.2022 4 sets of Holdfast Hoops ready for delivery Monday. A better method of fixing the three pieces together has resulted in a better looking more robust hoop. Now that I have moved away from powder coating to a 5 step coating regime they will be easier and cheaper to refurbish.

17.01.2022 Things have been a bit slow of late. Played some Tournament Croquet, the less said about that the better. During the past couple of weeks I have had to redo the costings for the Holdfast Hoop. The price of all input items have increased, some dramaticly. The new price per set of 6, $950.00 $AUD. 15.01.2022 As 2017 drew to a close I had 3 sets of Holdfast Hoops ready to go. There were to many set backs and interruptions to get going on selling these hoops. I was ready to place an advert in the ACA Magazine, however after many phone calls txt and emails to get a price I finally gave up mid December. Also I had a renovation on Southport Clubs courts. Now I have been informed that there will be only 1 edition and the ACA Magazine will end. So after a quick rethink we change tack and move on.

11.01.2022 Now that it is summer in the northern hemisphere and winter here in Australia Croquet in in full swing. Time for your club to consider new hoops. And not just any hoop. Holdfast hoops have been cited as the best hoop available. Steel prices are still going up. For a short while I will be holding the price at AUD $950.00per set ( with a white mallet per set) plus P&P.

10.01.2022 I have been working on the Holdfast hoop for over 3years. During that time I have learnt many things The main two being the cost of steel and machine time. These two items have been slowly rising. The main issue is cost of energy. Energy in all it forms has an effect right across all factors of manufacturing, from transport to the cost of electricity. I have just been informed that there is a steep ... rise in materials and energy costs. The cost of the Holdfast hoops must increase to cover these manufacturing increases. 08.01.2022 The end of my Green Keeping, now I have some equipment to sell. My u bute highly modified so more operator friendly MEY cylinder mower. Goes very well almost unstoppable. And the very essential .back lapper. Have a cylinder mower then you should have one of these. And my trusty work Ute Falcon AU II. with tradie tool box. As is, no rego no road worthy. (steering arm boots need replacing)

06.01.2022 The Holdfast hoop has been two years in the making. The design and manufacture has been under constant review and improvement. They are still the outstanding hoop with the ability to hold settings over the most arduous days play,without constant resetting. As we all know circumstances change. Although the current hoop works exceptionally well, circumstances require that changes in manufacture and coating have to be made. There will be no perceivable difference. .Materials change to Hi Tensile steel, Two Pack Polymer coating. The dimensions are the same as per the ACA Rule Book.

05.01.2022 A couple of pics from the Eire Cup at Stephens Club. This Event and the Mens Aust Singles before it was the very first for Holdfast hoops at Stephens Club. Nine days of continuous play. The Holdfast Hoops performed exceeding well. They held their settings all day every day without any need for adjustment. I was able to put out the hoops on all 4 courts in half an hour. The required setting, holes holding from the previous day. No requirement to match court and positions for e...ach individual hoop. I think about 2 hoops required resetting for out of round balls. This was not the hoops fault as the setting was correct and inspected by the Manager and Referee prior to re adjusting.The new hoop lifter with a capacity of 2.2 tonne made quick work of lifting out the hoops at the end of the day. I am very pleased with the hoops at the end of such an arduous test, A number of players asked serious question about the hoops which was very pleasing. See more

03.01.2022 My last full renovation. Carried out for Southport Club. A difficult job given the weather and the deteriorating condition of the courts.All has and should turn out well. I finished up with Southport Club at the end of March. I will now concentrate on manufacturing and promoting the Holdfast Hoops. And playing more croquet naturally.

02.01.2022 It has been a while since I had something to say. Thankyou to those who have had a look at the page. I am still making the hoops. I have had a request to make t...hem in stainless steel. I knew they would cost a bit. My guess was about 3 times the price of the mild steel one. Price for 6 hoops $2400 AUD. All steel has risen and stainless has gone up even more. I have been advised that the Holdfast Hoops will not be accepted for the Australian Golf Croquet Tournament in Brisbane Queensland in September 2017. No actual reason but that is how things are. 01.01.2022 I heard that Quadway Hoops had been sold to Terminator Mallets. This I find very interesting. Many "stories" abound about The Quadway. It is an interesting concept completely ruined by the Ruling on hoop settings.

01.01.2022 I have a request for a replacement Holdfast Hoop. It would appear that "someone" like them so much that they just had to "borrow" one. Now that is just not nice or in the spirit of being a croquet player. A request to the Club and I could have supplied one. A 5 set of croquet hoops really spoils the game. I can supply a replacement but that is not the point. If you really want one just ask.
