25.01.2022 There's a lot going on behind the scenes here at Holes and Corners. After the building being empty for a few months, we're very happy to announce that we're taking bookings again and will be back open for business from November 9. There's a backlog of work from June we have to catch up on, and we'll be contacting the bands that had to postpone their sessions due to stage 4 restrictions over the next few days as a priority. Email [email protected] for questions or more... info on bookings, including the in house Covidsafe plan that we'll be following. Big thanks to all those who bought merch over the lock in. It was great seeing some support from old friends and new. The webstore will be out of action for a few days while we go through a few website updates this week. 21.01.2022 Big congrats to the guys in @bandcalledloser for being added to the nominees list for the @australianmusicprize for their debut "Mindless Joy" released early this year. After working so hard from pre production all the way through mixing, their debut came out right as Covid hit. Without touring or spending a ton of $$$, it's very hard to get your debut to people's ears, so I'm really really glad they got this recognition. Im also especially proud, as not only are they all goo...d friends I've been working with for years, but the entire thing was recorded, mixed and mastered @holesandcorners If you haven't heard it yet (and grew up in the 90s), get onto it asap! For those that don't know, H&C partner and Engineer @samjohnsonsound spent almost a decade mostly working out of the former @three_phase_rehearsals building in Brunswick that had an entire dedicated recording studio. The poor studio has been "lights off" for nearly 2 months, and we are so keen to flick everything back on and get back to it!! 15.01.2022 COVID cleanup and Three Phase jems part 2. Featuring the first ever drum session at Three Phase when I was still an assistant engineer - @mindsnare "The Death". We brought not only all the microphones and leads in, we even brought the computer! I was spoiled so early on getting to record Beltsy and Gordy level players. Bunch of other Arthouse era punk and metal here, as well as bit of tote rock and even a hip hop track.

10.01.2022 Big congrats to new Melbourne rock band Shotgun Mistress for scoring #1 on the iTunes rock charts for their debut single "Save me from myself" taken from the upcoming album. Recorded some guitars and had some fun mixing this late in 2019. Mastered by the excellent Martin Pullan Edensound Mastering

06.01.2022 Check out the new EP "Penguin Club" by @lazysidekickau - this track is "Withering" and one of my favs. Recorded between Xmas and NYE 2019, with all local businesses shut down for the end of year break, it felt like we had Melbourne to ourselves! Sunny days having cigarettes out front, and late hot nights of playing with guitar effects and recording some very real vocals. Most of all, and the thing I'm looking forward to again soon, was watching themselves and the songs develop over their week lock in session. To me that is the point of the recording studio.... beyond fancy gear and big sales pitches, it's about booking a time and committing to getting what's in your head, down and recorded.
