19.01.2022 Lake opening news! Next Tuesday 12 September. Council have advised as follows: Council has trialled a natural closure for Currimundi Lake since early July to at...tempt to decrease midge numbers. This trial has allowed Council to increase our knowledge of the system and the midge management program. Council will now utilise favourable tides and weather conditions to open the lake on Tuesday 12th September in preparation for school holidays. 17.01.2022 Photo Flashback... Currimundi Lake 1950 Back before the upstream development occurred, the lake used to ‘open and close’ on a regular basis. When the sand in ...the entrance built up enough it would close itself off from the ocean, and only a big rain event or east coast low would ‘bust’ it open again!
