22.01.2022 The pure joy of a lickimat and bliss of acupuncture. Louis is 4 weeks post spinal surgery for ivdd and famously. Initially was nervous now pretty sure he has settled in nicely to rehab! #ivdd #ivddsupportgroup #jackrussellterrier #dogphysio #animalphysio #dogrehabilitation #spinalrecovery #dogacupuncture

17.01.2022 Prevention is always better than a cure. This gorgeous 5 month old puppy ellie was in for a first check with the dedicated owner noticing one leg turning in at times. Doing a full orthopaedic and neuro exam can be very Beneficial in setting up an appropriate Home program with environmental modifications. This can make a massive difference long term. I find one of the biggest misconceptions raising a puppy is to limit exercise - But then they run around like crazy with pent up energy with more impact. Training/mental stimulation and controlled exercise is important and guidance on what type and amount is very helpful. #puppiesofinstagram #puppiesofaustralia #daschund #daschundsofinstagram #sunnycoastvet #caninerehab #animalphysio

16.01.2022 Little Louie started physio today a little timid but loved this massage and treatment. He Is recovering very well after hmmilaminectomy a few days ago at ncvs for ivdd. It is important to set up a program for owners at home as soon as possible and start early treatment. Everything is about early controlled mobilisation these days! It is as important to help owners through these early stages and support them with stress that is involved with trying to keep them quiet and recover well. Go louie we got your back! #ivdd #ivddsupportgroup #jackeussellterrier #dogphysio #animalphysio #animalphysiotherapyaustralia #vetrehab #sunnycoastvet

15.01.2022 Following cruciate ligament surgery it is important to be able to assess all the structures to define what is limiting ongoing recovery. One of the most common complications post TPLO can be late onset meniscal pathology, especially if the joint was inspected arthroscopic Lee during surgery and found to have the meniscus intact. This can either be managed conservatively I may require arthroscopic repair. Occasionally there can also pain on implants (sometimes these are requir...ed to be removed), infection (but usually in the acute phases), Patella tendinitis or just simply joint pain due to arthritis. This dog is three months postop on the left side post TPLO you can see she is not fully extending the stifle, is dropping in the pelvis and weight-bearing and with reduced cranial phase of gait. The uwt is a great tool to assess this. #tplo #tplosurgery #sunnycoastvet #vetrehab #animalphysio #physiofordogs #kelpie #underwatertreadmill #dogphysio See more

11.01.2022 Nikov was an absolute stunner to meet yesterday. This gorgeous two-year-old cat is recovering from femoral head and neck excision for underlying pathology legge calves Perthes disease - a condition that humans can get also. This is a hereditary condition affects the blood supply to the head of the femur in the hip often resulting in this salvage procedure. Unfortunately it is likely to be repeated on the other side shortly so we are assisting him with pain relief and working... on improving his mobility and quality of life long term. Pretty sure he enjoy his first treatment! Sometimes it is challenging to do passive range of motion in the cat to get them relaxed -this hanging hip stretch providing gentle traction can be well tolerated by the hips and the spine. Here is more info on perthes in cats if interested https://vcahospitals.com//femoral-head-ostectomy-fho-in-ca #cat #catphysio #catrehab #catstretch #animalphysio #sunnycoastvet #vetrehab See more
