19.01.2022 The biceps muscle in your arm has ‘two heads’ - a short and long head. The long head of the biceps is prone to irritation with repetitive use of the shoulder (i.e. throwing sports). This can lead to pain in the front of the shoulder and weakness during arm movements. Do you have shoulder pain? Comment below and we’ll get you on the right path ASAP

15.01.2022 Our founding father, Andrew Taylor Still, once said When you have adjusted the physical to its normal demands, nature supplies the remainder. A deeply important principle to osteopathy underpins this quote That structure governs function in the body. Osteopaths do not heal disease; we try to create the ideal environment for the body to heal itself.
15.01.2022 Based on the recent advice from DHHS, I have made the decision to close the clinic for face-to-face treatment, for the duration of the Stage 4 Lockdown in Melbourne . Telehealth appointments will be available - please call 0439379847 to book. Online bookings have been temporarily disabled during this time . It saddens me to have to do this for a second time, but I am committed to the fight against this disease. See you on the other side
15.01.2022 Focusing on your arms whilst working out and need to stretch those triceps? Try this for size: 1. In a seated or standing position, raise one arm straight up into the air 2. Keeping the arm up, bend the elbow and touch your hand to your upper back/neck 3. Place your opposite hand onto the tip of your bent elbow and gently pull backwards 4. Hold for 45-60 seconds, relax and repeat on both sides
15.01.2022 The debate on whether ice baths reduce the chances of sore muscles and improve recovery following an intense workout is ongoing. A 2017 study showed that low-intensity active recovery (i.e. 10 minutes on a stationary bike) following a workout has similar effects on the body. What is your preference? A little extra low-intensity workout? Or a dip in a chilly bathtub?

09.01.2022 Question Which is the largest organ in the human body? A lot of people think the answer is the brain, lungs or liver when asked this question. When in fact, the answer is the skin. All of the skin combined in a big heap would weigh more than any other organ. The skin equates to approximately 7% of total body weight in an average adult. It’s an incredibly intricate structure that forms the outer layers of our bodies. But why do we have skin? Read on to find out all the cool things our skin does for usfollow the link! www.holistichandsosteopathy.com.au/ne/functions-of-the-skin
09.01.2022 It’s time to stretch (like a cat)! The cat stretch is a great stretch for the spine. So let’s break it down 1. Get onto your hands and knees with your spine in a neutral position 2. Drop your head down between your shoulders and try to tuck your tailbone underneath you 3. Arch your back up into the air and hold Breathe. 4. Slowly return to normal, repeat
08.01.2022 Scheuermann’s Disease is a childhood condition that primarily affects the mid-back section of the spine. Abnormal growth in the front part of the vertebrae here leads to a ‘wedge shaped’ appearance when seen on an x-ray. The wedging causes the spine to curve more severely (called a hyperkyphosis) in the mid-back and may lead to pain felt in this region. Good news! There are treatments available and we can help. Please call to make an appointment today.
