Ladies; Im hearing reports that youre experiencing lower back pain in the pursuit of your ideal bot, especially during your lockdown home workouts. Here are a couple of tips to help you avoid pain and feel the bum burn (and not the post curry kind):... - You may be over extending your lumbar spine. Rather than popping that booty all day long, keep your lower rib tucked down, tummy tight, regress your range of movement to maintain optimal pelvic positioning or use a bench and heel lifts if need be. - Get help! You may be forgetting a few of your favorite cues from the watchful eye of your coach. Film yourself or ask a trainer to help your get your bod in the safest most efficient position. - Practice holding in farts. If you cant quiet grasp the concept of squeezing or activating your glutes try different cues. Here is my most successful verbal cue: remember in high school when people would poke you directly in the butt hole? (Please dont tell me this was just an SBSC thing) Now imagine youre trying to prevent entry. - Slow down. Are you throwing your body around, creating kipping exercises that didnt exist before? Take time to perform every rep with care, intent and proper execution. - Dont spend a whole session doing 50 booty exercises you found on Instagram. If youre just doing isolated exercises chances are youre not as strong as you could be in all the other very important places in your body. 07.01.2022 Have you been sitting down for three months? Is everything hurting now that youre dragging your body back to normality. Lets revisit this bad boy. - Compare your body to the diagram. - strong and mobile... - strong and stable - restrictive and sore to massage - load bearing and sore during movement - How is your dorsiflexion? Are you hips anteriorly tilted? Are you sporting a dowagers hump or nursing a sore lower back? Consider looking at the feet during your troubleshooting. As with any imbalance there will be compensation. Just as an ankle with little to no mobility will cause a chain of poor or hyper mobility, overcompensation and incorrect overloading up the body. While there are a handful of circus tricks to aid in correcting this, the easiest and cheapest thing you can do is go #barefoot Allow your body to relearn its most natural, strongest movement patterns from the bottom up. Best case scenario is youll save money on the latest in arch supporting technology, you will be capable of bending your knees and laying down will actually be relaxing. Worst case scenario is youll continue along this long and never ending road to find the most heel cushioned, stride rebounding, toe squishing shoes and youll end up in some thicc bois. - * i understand that getting your tootsies out is not always an option for various reasons.
