24.01.2022 Some of our modern day stressors can’t be removed - but how we learn to live with them can!

23.01.2022 Um this looks amazing!! Defiantly going to give it a go for my vego and vegan friends! It reminds me of the classic ice cream cake we grew up with! Those colours . Would be very calorie dense though!
22.01.2022 Now I’m the type of Nutritionist that loves Low Carb diets Moderate and even High Carb diets! Because it is a very individual need. What suits for one person may not be the best for the other - Case in point have a read of this article by Lara - a hormone expert I admire. If you have any questions shoot me message .

17.01.2022 Taking my love for markets everywhere I go! Spent the day wandering through the local markets in Testaccio Rome ~ I could not believe the quality and variety of the produce! The strawberries, raspberries and blueberries are huge and so vibrant in colour. And no $8 punnets around here! But my favourites, apart from the many varieties of tomatoes and the glorious artichoke, was seeing all the different varieties of greens, bitters and chards. Making for some serious salad inspo...! #marketqueen #markets#italianfood . . . . . #nutritionist #nutrition#slowfood#jerf#foodmatters#greens#fruit#veg#organic#produce#healthyfood #local #marketplace #italy See more

14.01.2022 When Italian’s do Australia Day! This was Nona’s Australian / Italian style feast! Featuring fresh Aussie seafood. And it was awesome. I think a lot of people get a little surprised when they see that I eat pasta, bread, cheese . But it is all about balance. Balancing the meal to include some Protein, good quality fats and yes complex carbs, with lots of accessory nutrients. And keeping to portion size servings = key. I also talk a lot to people about the ‘context of the day...’, it’s not one meal that determines if your healthy or not, but rather what are you eating within the context of your day on a plate and also the amount of energy your expending. A bit of food for thought! So whatever your doing this long weekend, if you celebrate Aus day or not, enjoy some amazing tasty Aussie food! And leave the food guilt behind. . #mindfuleating #nutritionist #townsvillenutritionist#ausday . . . . . . . . #nutrition #nutrients #nutri #healthyfood #healthyeating #macronutrients #micronutrients #eatrealfood#eatnutrients#celebrateculture#italianfood #mediterraneandiet #jerf See more

12.01.2022 This may explain to you all a little of my somewhat recent quietness on social media for the past few months! . I have been busy away growing a little human which is now a lot bigger in size then this avocado more like a butternut pumpkin infact. Even as a Nutritionist and having supported many of my clients through Nutrition to nourish and support both fertility, pre conception, ( Women’s health is a passion of mine!) pregnancy and post, this is m...y first rodeo being a pregnant women myself. Because of this I initially did not feel confident enough to share my own journey with fertility and pregnancy on social media platform. Instead keeping it to in person face to face engagements. However now that I have ticked over to the third trimester, finalised and supportedly handed over my current clients to the Health Practitioners I recommend, and begin the preparations for maternity leave, I find myself with a lot of time on my hands ! It now feels wonderful to share this news with this audience. And I would love to know if Nutrition for fertility, conception, pregnancy and nourishing post, along with childhood nutrition is something you would like me to share? > And Don’t worry Nonas cookbook is in the final stages so I’ll still be giving updates on that!). . #nutritionist #pregnancy #nourish. . . . . . #nutrition #nutritionistapproved #fertility #preconceptionhealth #women#mumsandbubs#townsvillenutritionist #health#wellness See more
12.01.2022 Yesterday I shared an article linking IR-PCOS with mitochondrial disease and mentioned a great protector of the energy centre of our cells (aka the mitochondria...) was CoQ10. Now we see how important it is in mental health, particularly BiPolar Disorder: Bipolar disorder is estimated to affect up to 1.2% of the general population. Recently, attention has turned to the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in the pathophysiology of bipolar disorder. Supplementation with 200mg of CoQ10 alongside conventional medication was found to significantly reduce depressive symptoms compared to medication alone. (Info via #Biomedica: https://doi.org/10.1097/JCP.0000000000000938 https://doi.org/10.1093/ibd/izx002) So here are a few more tips from moi about this little powerhouse molecule: Quick Tips: CoQ10 -- Co-enzyme Q10 is a co-factor molecule and antioxidant found in mitochondria, or the energy production centre, of cells. It is found in high concentrations in the heart muscle and musculoskeletal system, but also found in every single cell of your body except hair and nails. It plays an essential role in both the oxygenation of cells and in the prevention of oxidation of LDL cholesterol. Why is that good? Lack of oxygen = fatigue + systemic inflammation and Oxidised LDL is what leads to creation of ‘bad’ cholesterol which is implicated in cardiovascular disease. Symptoms of low CoQ10: heart disease, low stamina/fatigue, chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, fibromyalgia, poor memory, type 2 diabetes, ADHD, bleeding gums. Key foods: CoQ10 is uncommon in our diet. Some of the better options include: cuttlefish, herring, rainbow trout, liver/organ meats (also in chicken, nuts, veg in small amounts). Those taking statins (cholesterol lowering medication) should take supplemental CoQ10 as statins block this coenzyme’s function. If you’re suffering fatigue, heart disease or taking a statin for high cholesterol, 150mg QoQ10 per day may assist low energy/fatigue and offer protection against CVD and high cholesterol. Personally, I love it to boost energy and for prenatal support. Have you used CoQ10?
05.01.2022 Oohhh I’m going to give these guys a go (with substitutes in my pantry) this week :) will be perfect treats to enjoy with this rainy weather!
03.01.2022 How interesting!! I think it’s great to have an understanding of where your food comes from in the picture of understanding how it relates to your health and diet. #nutritionanthropologyrules
03.01.2022 These guys look sooo good! A nice change up from banana pancakes.
01.01.2022 I may be without a washing machine for a while but I’m sharing this for those who still have one . Love this for making your own washing powder - I always buy eco washing liquid and powder but even those products come in plastic bottles (recyclable and cardboard ) so as soon as my laundry is back up and running I will be making my own!
