24.01.2022 Hi, Would you like to join our activities and celebrations to enrich your childs experiences in their early years. Savouring the hot pumpkin soup with bread rolls, as well as blueberry muffins and fresh fruit was most enjoyable at our winter solstice celebrations. Walking up the footpath with our lanterns was invigorating. Seeing the golden balls blossoms on the wattle tree was delightful and some blossoms were placed in our winter story. Finally toasted marsh mellows ended our memorable celebrations of the shortest day of the year.
24.01.2022 Children need to experience a natural childhood full of wonder and to play with sheer joy. When playing, children experience, experiment and sense... with the whole body - head, arms and legs and in so doing feeds the brain with ever new capacities a process that can last a lifetime. Our day at Greenwood Reserve was full of sensory input, experiential play and experimenting with tools e.g.climbing high, long and wide logs, digging in the mud, joining hands A glorious day!
24.01.2022 Children playing in nature today at Warrandyte playground when feeding the ducks by hand or paddling in the river and discovering stones is delightful.
23.01.2022 Children and parents experienced planting the tiny tiny carrot and cauliflower seeds by digging and turning over the biodynamic soil, breaking down lumps, making fallows, and watering with watering cans is a wonderful way to see the wonder of nature. Each week we will anticipate how much the seeds have grown and the carrots have just sprouted. How exciting!

22.01.2022 If I hadnt discovered child specialist Magda Gerber's respectful approach to parenting, I wouldnt have thought it possible to engage in a fulfilling, intimate... relationship with a toddler. I wouldnt have believed I could relate to a child this young as a real and present person, and I would have missed out on so much... See more
22.01.2022 How hungry was the large white duck at Warrandyte this week? How exciting it was for the children to explore the tall trees! Our bush playgroup connects families happily together in a safe environment in nature each week. Next week, our children will walk along windy picturesque tracks with their golden winter solstice lanterns to celebrate the shortest day of the year at Westerfolds Park. All welcomed to join our two bush playgroups each Tuesday and Wednesday.
20.01.2022 Celebrating the seasonal changes are important for children to experience temperature differences in the weather, e.g. coldness, heat, warmth and coolness. Currently, our winter focus is the shortest year with the children making lanterns which they will carry outside in nature, enjoy hot soup and fresh bread, and then warm up by an indoor open fire. All outdoor activities build healthy children for the rest of their lives with amazing childhood memories.

15.01.2022 Why finger play in sand, water and garden play stimulates the brain! Playing in the sandpit with spoons, oyster shells, spades, rakes or playing with water with watering cans, cups and buckets, cooking on the stove with cooking utensils or digging in the garden with real tools are all vital activities that stimulate the brain for childrens esthetic and creative powers. These finger and hand activities were explained at our Information Evening How to Nourish Childhood Nat...urally through the research of Professor Matti Bergstrom, a Finnish Neuro-physiologist and author who says, The brain discovers what the fingers explore. The density of nerve endings in our finger tips is enormous (The Gateway Series Three, 2004, pp. 55). When this rich network of nerves is neglected or impoverished there is a huge loss to the brain that thwarts the individuals all round development for the unity of things and the individuals esthetic and creative powers. Lets continue our finger play activities that the children just love. 13.01.2022 Hi, Being in the forests fresh clean air on a sunny day, after long wintry days, was delightful to see the children confidently explore and be adventurous as well as nourishing their health. Climbing the large fallen log, splashing in natural waterways and squelching in the mud also develops spatial orientation skills such as balance and tests feats of strength. What a joyful day for the children!
13.01.2022 Why does a child independently climb a large trunk spontaneously with confidence and skill? What is your reaction and feeling? Do you panic or trust? Dr. Emmi Pikler, a paediatrician, who observed children from birth to 3 years in an orphanage, encourages child-directed and child-initiated play to achieve independence in an environment at a childs developmental stage. Carers need to trust and observe the maturing skills of independence and quietly acknowledge them with words of value like well done, great effort or excellent skills instead of good. Children can teach us their unique journey in their own time and way if we give them the respect and freedom they need. What a day we had!

She completed her certificate in three-fold therapy for learning and started applying an exercise program for children with learning difficulties. What a legend!!!

02.01.2022 Most babies do love it when we stand them up, move them around, show them toys and otherwise entertain them. Whats not to love? When these ways of interacting ...become the norm, they are desired and expected. This wish to repeat the familiar can become a distraction that makes it difficult for our child to engage in the slower paced, self-created and self-designed activities that are profoundly beneficial and vital to learning... http://www.janetlansbury.com//how-to-stop-entertaining-yo/

02.01.2022 The immediate effect of "dont touch", "who had it first?" and "wait your turn" is separating the children. I realize that might seem like a good idea when they...re struggling -- none of us like to see kids uncomfortable -- but isnt our goal for playdates, playgroups and preschool to encourage children to learn to play together? Why bother to arrange social situations if we wont allow the children to socialize in their own ways? In the over 20 years Ive been observing infants and toddlers, Ive noticed that learning to play together is exactly what the children are trying to do. However, this doesnt happen while theyre following our directions to take turns and play separately...
