13.01.2022 A nice little trick to keep an area smelling fresh! Put some bicarb in a container. Add a few drops of essential oil. ... I used Lime and Lemongrass for their wonderful fresh scent. I placed my container in the cupboard under the sink where we keep the bin. Now when I open the cupboard there is the lovely fresh aroma of Lime and Lemongrass!!!!

10.01.2022 When Abbie a 2.5yo havanese came in for her annual check and titre test her owner Jackie asked me "Do you think we are exercising Abbie too much? My husband wal...ks her 5kms in the morning and 2kms in the afternoon." What do you think? Well actually I'm so glad Jackie asked me this question because it's a really common misconception. This is in fact way too much exercise for little Abbie. Dogs don't need nearly as much exercise as we do. I'm sure this amount if great for Jackie's husband but over exercising Abbie like this would be causing her physical and mental stress in her body. Dogs in their natural environment only hunt every few days. They slow walk and scavenge a fair bit but spend most of their time sleeping and resting around 18hrs per day. In fact you don't even really need to "exercise" your dog. They just need to get out for a good sniff. The more you exercise them the fitter they get and the more you have to exercise them. A 20mins walk each day is plenty. I recommend a long lead of 3m + to allow for as much sniffing as possible. If you want to exercise your best leaving your dog at home.
