20.01.2022 Most of you will know the needle-like foliage of the She Oak. As kids we used to weave them into bracelets and crowns. Growing up near to the seaside you can hear the wind whistle through the branchlets. . . She Oak is a flower essence I use in clinic so very often. It is made from the female tree and is all about female balance. It has an affinity for the ovaries and ovarian function and is useful in cases of unexplained infertility where there is no physical cause. On an e...motional plane it helps one to be emotionally open to conception. . . Flower essences are inexpensive, easy to administer and can be blended to suit the individuals needs. See more

18.01.2022 Sunshine days... when was the last time you had your vitamin D levels checked? If you don’t go out in the sun without having your skin showing (especially you southerners who rug up to your eyeballs to leave the house) for 20-30 minutes a day consecutively throughout winter, it might be time you checked in on your vitamin D levels. . . Vitamin D has huge roles in the body in the immune system, with mood and the nervous system, with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. .... . The medical range being quite broad doesn’t really give you an indication of optimal, mostly only getting flagged if super low. Not sure what your vitamin D levels should sit at? Obtain copies of your blood results and bring them along to a consultation for help interpreting them or send me through a quick DM. See more

15.01.2022 If you need a sign to schedule in some self-care this week - this is it... . . The most gloriously zen morning yesterday at @greenhouse_thebathhouse after a wild couple of weeks of sleep deprivation with a certainly cute but unsettled puppy

15.01.2022 Herbal medicine, nutraceuticals and flower essence blends to help support postpartum depletion. . . The speedy return to ‘busy’ after birth has been something I see often in clinic. As a result the presentations I see tend to being those of depletion. .... . To start with it usually presents itself with symptoms not too dissimilar to what is labeled as being normal for a new parent juggling the transition from maiden to mother to possible working mother - tired but able to push through because you just have to. The nourishment and self-care rituals often slide early, too early, as there just is never enough hours in the day. . . Over time the ability to function in the new normal becomes a veil for the underlying physiological processes that are occurring. You’re adapting to the new normal. . . Eventually, the grips of these physiological effects of the proverbial burning the candle at both ends start to present themselves, maybe slowly, maybe all at once. . . This is usually where you become my patient.. . . We look at all the nourishing and nurturing principles that would help you to build yourself back up, to regain the energy you long since forgot existed while the postpartum nostalgia kicks in and the sentences start with ‘I used to feel...’ We look to find and embrace not the old you but the new you with new feels - energetic, balanced, able, confident, truly adaptable. . . The postpartum journey can be a blur but if you’re prepared, if you’re nurtured, if you’re nourished it can be so much more easily adapted to. . . Transition is beautiful. From caterpillar to butterfly, from maiden to mother - emerging as a more exquisite version of you. Prioritising yourself isn’t selfish, it’s the most significant act of altruism when as a result you have so much more to offer. See more

14.01.2022 I hope your Saturday is filled with lovely self-care moments.. nourishing food, nourishing soul.

12.01.2022 Let’s talk neurotransmitters. Happy chemicals, motivation chemicals, feel good chemicals. . . Picture it like this - you’ve got a small chef baking the happy chemical cake inside your body. Chef needs ingredients, they can’t just duck out to the supermarket so they’re completely reliant on what you ingest to get the ingredients to produce the happy chemical cake that’s going to make YOU feel good, feel motivated, feel happy. .... . We want them to have the ingredients to produce this epic, happy cake. So, here’s the list: . Protein - it breaks down into the amino acids required as the base of your neurotransmitters. Consider it the flour for your cake. Think legumes, eggs, fish, meat and nuts and seeds. . Cofactors - these are things that are required to convert the amino acids into neurotransmitters and can include but are not limited to magnesium and B vitamins. Consider these your flavours and raising agents - ain’t nobody want a flat cake with no taste. So add, nuts and seeds, legumes and lots of leafy greens to your protein sources and we are getting somewhere. . . Now, all you’ve got to do is eat these things consistently, daily even. Consider this the heat in the oven. Can’t bake a cake without heat. See more

08.01.2022 Cacao & Medicinal Mushroom Hot Chocolate... . . Cacao, cinnamon, cayenne, vanilla, maple, sea salt, coconut milk & @superfeast ‘Mason’s Mushrooms’ .... . I’m an ardent admirer of medicinal mushrooms and their many uses and also of things my patients can utilise as food as medicine - the @superfeast tonics are the perfect addition to the day to day. . . Every drink you drink and meal you eat is a chance to use your food to nourish your body but also a chance to maximise the healing potential of what you’re consuming. You have a choice every time you put hand to mouth to choose to heal. How you choose to proceed with that choice is entirely up to you. See more

08.01.2022 Herbal medicine, homeopathics, iridology, my lifetime love..

06.01.2022 Shakshouka x baked beans.. a collab. . . . Beans, tomatoes, capsicums, spices, garlic, eggs, lemon, rocket. ... . . Legumes are packed full of fiber which is essential for fuelling the beneficial bacteria within your gut helping them to thrive. You can put the beneficial bacteria into your body in the form of probiotics but if you’re not feeding them how will they survive? Aim for a minimum of 30 grams of fiber per day of mixed sources. . . What does that even look like? Well, 1 cup of beans is around 15 grams of fiber, 2 tablespoons of ground chia seeds is 10 grams of fiber, 1 avocado has 13 grams of fiber, 1 cup of raspberries has 8 grams of fiber etc. . . Every meal you have is an opportunity to nourish yourself. How epic is that! See more
