24.01.2022 Clinic update! . It has become evident that there is mixed information in relation to where practitioners stand in relation to changes being made by the Australian Government. . Changes are taking effect regularly and we must adapt and move with these changes as they occur. Manual therapists can continue to work despite the communication from AMT's correspondence advising practitioners to cease operating.... . It is at the discretion of each individual practitioner to choose to close their clinic/s or continue to keep working. As of Monday 23rd March 2020, there is currently no government directive that states practitioners cannot work. . I will be following all of the guidelines in relation to hygiene and will be screening all my clients prior to their appointments for potential symptoms. This virus cannot be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact. Any client who I feel may pose a risk to the health of staff or other clients will be rescheduled or cancelled. . My role to the health and wellness of the community is even more important at this time, so I will continue to practice until I have been told otherwise. . We will also continue to remain up-to-date with state government recommendations and take each day as it comes. . Thank you for continuing to support your local businesses and making your health and wellness a priority. See more

12.01.2022 As part national Women's Health Week I'm going to outline some tips for treating irregular cycles. . First: what is considered average and healthy? Perfection is not key. As long as your period starts every 21 - 35 days. . Irregular or no period: the first step is to rule out pregnancy or pathology with your doctor. Hopefully your doctor can also offer you a hormone test to assess any irregularities. ... . PCOS: a condition where the ovaries make too much testosterone compared to oestrogen and progesterone causing irregular periods, acne and facial hair. Treatments involves a low GI diet to balance insulin levels and supplements that balance blood sugars. . Amenorrhea: is the loss of a period where the hypothalamus has stopped producing a hormone required for menstruation, affected by stress and under eating. Treatment involves herbs to nourish the hypothalamus to regulate the body's stress response. . Heavy periods: bleeding more than 7 days or >80ml. Please see a doctor to rule out fibroid, clotting disorders and thyroid disease. Treatment involves promoting normal detoxification or oestrogen. . Painful periods: pain which affects quality of life and normal function. First rule out any underlying medical conditions such as fibroid, infection or endometriosis with a doctor. Treatment involves natural supplements such as zinc, magnesium, and turmeric, which work gently and gradually. . PMS: irritability and cravings before a period. PMS responds well to magnesium and some appropriately prescribed herbs. . Have you checked your thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)? . tired hair loss dry skin... sluggish constipated muscle aches irregular cycle . Discuss these symptoms with your GP and consider a blood test. Especially if there is any thyroid disease in the family. .
