03.01.2022 Severe Storms this weekend - please prepare your property (Trees, loose sheet metal, trampolines, etc) in preparation for; Cyclone Mangga heading for WA, bringing rain, wind and waves. If you lose power check the https://westernpower.com.au/faults-outag/power-outages-map/ for "known outages in your area" before ringing 131351. Western Power will be working hard to log all faults, including assisting with Life Threatening Emergencies, please be considerate when calling them.... If you see a fallen powerline or pole, always assume that it is live. Do not go near it, touch it or anything that is in contact with it. Electricity from powerlines can jump or arc through the air and travel to earth through your body, resulting in an electric shock. In the event of an electrical accident involving powerlines: in a life threatening emergency, call emergency services on 000 phone Western Power on 13 13 51 to report a fallen powerline and to make the area safe do not go near an injured person if it means going near powerlines stand back and urge other bystanders to keep at least 8m away do not approach the area until the proper authorities have declared the area safe. In addition to the fallen powerlines, there may also be damage to support structures and equipment. It may not be easy to see damage to structures, so always keep a safe distance.

02.01.2022 MEA HongKong - I went to Hong Kong in September for the Master Electricians Conference. Lots of Business Training, Updates and Ideas and a highlight was going in to China for business. (thanks to Brett Matthews from RNM for coming along - it was comforting to know that if I got kidnapped and ransomed (or just lost) in China I'd have someone to talk to :))

01.01.2022 Another "sturdy" power pole, Not!... we were asked if we could remove a couple of poles on a private property... after the cables had been disconnected I literally gave the pole a push from my ladder and down she came even though it 'looked fine'. Privately owned Power Poles must be checked every year. Jarrah Poles over 25 years should be replaced immediately (Other timbers earlier). Wooden Poles should be replaced with Galvanised Steel Poles* and Bare overhead wires must be replaced with Insulated wires. Fallen Poles and Live Wires are a hazard, some causing bush fires and loss of life! Call us for an onsite assessment of your poles and overhead lines...
