24.01.2022 A quick video that shows the production of the new sign for the public access herb garden. A big thank you to Multicam Routing Systems Pty Ltd for the use of their awesone CNC routing machine. The sign was made from an offcut of marine ply and will soon take root at the community gardens site. Keep an eye out!

20.01.2022 It's great to see the plants bounce back after the change in weather, but don't let the rain fool you. Level 2 water restrictions commence next week. We've kept planting to a minimum and are doing what we can to keep the gardens alive with compost, mulch and carefully selected crops. Still plenty to do, and we are always taking new members. ... 15.01.2022 Today we had the opportunity to recognise the contribution of the Holmesville Progress Association (HPA) to our local area. Since 1945 the Holmesville Progress Association has been liaising between Council, other authorities and property owners, on behalf of local residents. (Though its antecedents in caring for the town are even older, beginning with the Holmesville Improvement Committee in 1900.) Since its inception, the group has helped to provide play centres, planted tr...ees in Appletree Road and shrubs in Centenary Park, encouraged Council to provide the Holmesville Sports Ground, the skatepark, play equipment in parks, tar sealing of roads, kerb and guttering and general maintenance work. At one stage it also ran the Holmesville Tennis Club (now the site of your community garden) and managed the hiring of the Community Hall. The Association has been a strong supporter of West Wallsend District Sustainable Neighbourhood Group since its inception in 2013. Most recently, the HPA donated the seating in the grounds outside the community garden. When it was realised that the HPA would have to disband, the remaining funds were generously donated to WWDSNG, with a request that that the money be spent to benefit the children of the community hence the installation of the chimes, and this public acknowledgment of our gratitude. It is important to remember that, without community involvement, your local area will never receive the recognition it deserves. It is up to all members and residents of the community to ensure that we are seen and heard in order to make your local area a great one in which to live.

06.01.2022 A big thank you to everyone who helped make this years Spring Fair a great success. Much hard work by members of West Wallsend District Sustainable Neighbourhood Group saw a record number of stall holders and visitors visit your community garden. Excellent music by The Barnsley Boys kept the crowds entertained. We had an opportunity to meet with lots of locals and discuss the garden project.
