25.01.2022 This old #rose has not only survived the #drought, it's actually looking better than it has in years. I'm no #garden expert but I can confidently say it's an old variety - it was here before my grandmother came to Holowiliena. Unlike regular #roses, this bush is pruned after flowering (there's a job for next week ). 04.01.2022 There’s been a few tears shed this week at Holowiliena: tears of happiness as our sheep have come home After 4 years of severe drought, we’ve had good rain over the last few months. The country is looking better - this is the start of a long rebuild and recovery. A very special friend took our last little mob of sheep to his farm last year and, with some help from his wonderful community, has kept them alive. Another terrific farmer looked after the ewes as they lambed and... is sending them home in great condition. These guys are the real Aussie heroes. The drought has been vicious. It’s more than our businesses that have suffered. There are farmers who’ve lost entire bloodlines of animals they’ve loved for generations. The effects of this flow through our rural communities. This post is a Thankyou - to each and every person who buys Australian wool, eats Aussie grown food, visits rural towns and supports our farming communities. An extra special Thankyou to the people who’ve visited us over the last few years and brought their smiles, their happiness and their support. And to the people at Coomandook, Sherlock and Ki Ki who helped make sure our sheep could come home - Thankyou. Your help will never be forgotten.
