23.01.2022 3D printing has also been high on the agenda to demo prototype parts but also has come a long way in the last 10 years. The general consensus is 3d printed parts, being plastic are weak as cheese BUT this is no longer the case. The stronger filaments like ABS, PETG, NYLON all require pretty high temperatures to print, but they definitely have an improved strength over the original PLA. There is also aluminium and carbon infused filaments, which some claim to be really strong ...like NylonX ... Hölscher Technologies has found the best and strongest filament on the planet and it actually comes out of a plastics company in Italy called TreeD. This company has been in the plastics game since the 60s and in 2015 they made the move to research 3d printing filaments; Called Carbonium this is already being used in the automotive aftermarket industry and carry a tensile strength of 8000mpa! This is crazy strong. Generic Carbon Fibre weave is only 3.5 GPA or 3500mpa and the stuff used in Formula 1 cars / Aircraft etc are around 6000mpa, therefore giving this Carbon infused Nylon filament the strength, 2000mpa stronger than a formula 1 car at a very similiar density or weight. This week, Hölscher Technologies has been approved as the Australian distributor for this extremely strong printer filament and all the other Treed fillaments available. 22.01.2022 This is the latest creation in CAD. A 1:1 scale model of a 1967 Volkswagen Beetle custom with bumpers from a 68', earlier non-dome wheels and the paint is a custom Blue Metallic.
