17.01.2022 Millet - Whilst French white millet is often used as bird seed it has many health benefits for you and your horses. It is an ancient grain that contains Tryptophan - an amino acid that elevates mood. Niacin - Vit B3 which helps with cholesterol.... It is also rich in iron, folate and many minerals It may be useful with EMS - The magnesium in millet acts as a contractor that regulates glucose and insulin levels. Millet contains Vit B16 which plays a big role in cancer prevention. Millet supports healthy digestion and may help with problems such as diarrhea as well as support healthy gut flora to prevent ulcers. It may support healthy liver and kidney function as it contains substances which boosts liver and kidney function, which are essential for detoxification of the body. Millet contains antioxidants and may help with inflammation. I usually feed about 1/2 a cup of millet for an averaged sized horse. 10.01.2022 I love having nasturtiums in the garden! They are good for keeping weeds down and can added to salads. I haven't actually fed them to horses but I will often break off a leaf or two and much on them. They re rich in nutrients and may help to boost your immune system. They may help relieve coughs, colds and the flu. Nasturtiums are known to be anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and antiseptic. 04.01.2022 I was harvesting nettles the other day. I will dry them to add herbal mixes as needed. Nettles may be useful for allergies such as hives as well as for arthritis, laminitis and EMS as they help to balance the blood sugar. They are useful for horses recovering from sickness or elderly horses. They may be use for other things such as...hay fever, anemia, asthma, bleeding, cancer, diarrhoea, skin problems, inflammation, strengthening bones, kidney or bladder problems and wound ...healing. It may make some horses feel too good so feed sparingly. Some horses can be allergic and produce a nettle rash so test small amount first. Nettles are ,rich in chlorophyll, is a source if calcium, chromium, magnesium, zinc, cobal, selenium, silicon, thiamine, vitamin A, C and K.
