14.01.2022 The end of the 2020 school year is fast approaching, and from the deepest darkest corner of the Library, a small cry can be heard, gently calling Holy Cross School Library books back home for Christmas. Maybe you could help by checking the deepest darkest corners of your home (and school bag!) to see if they might be lurking there. Our sister school, St Francis Xavier have some suggestions of places to look on their video. And if you DO happen to find a Holy Cross Library book, please guide it gently by the spine back to its home where it belongs....

12.01.2022 ST VINNIES CHRISTMAS APPEAL Part of our mission as a Catholic school is to reach out and serve, and to help those in need. Each class has a basket with targeted age ranges to buy for. These baskets will be given to families in our Far North region. We ask that families who are able, donate Christmas food items or gifts for the hampers. If you have more than one child at school, please choose which class basket to donate to. The hampers will be given to St Vincent De Paul repr...esentatives on the last day of school. Please see emails sent today for donation ideas. If your own family is in need of support this Christmas, please let me know and I can help facilitate a support link with St Vinnies. BY GIVING TO THE VINNIES CHRISTMAS APPEAL YOU CAN BRING HOPE AND JOY TO THOSE WHO NEED IT THE MOST.

04.01.2022 LIVING AND LEARNING IN THE WAY OF THE CROSS: Happy Feast Day! Happy Holy Cross Day!

04.01.2022 We are aware of a post circulating on social media in relation to our school. Please see responses below from Holy Cross School Principal, Sarah Hamilton, Northern Beaches Catholic Parish Priest, Fr Neil Muir and Cairns Catholic Education Services Executive Director, Bill Dixon: Mrs Sarah Hamilton: "Our school deeply regrets the error in incorrectly flying the Torres Strait flag and the response of one of our staff members to the concerns of a member of our school community. ...We unreservedly apologise. We will be taking appropriate actions at the school to ensure this never happens again." Fr Neil Muir: "We have caused great offence, particularly to our First Nations communities, for our errors and insensitivity in our responses to incorrectly flying the Torres Strait flag. We acknowledge the hurt caused and we ask for the forgiveness of those we have offended. We are committed to ensure we all learn from this mistake so that we may continue to grow in the relationships with our First Nations Communities." Mr Bill Dixon: "Our schools proudly fly the three flags that reflect the communities we serve. It is personally upsetting that the Torres Strait flag was incorrectly flown and that our initial response was at the very least disrespectful. We will be taking positive action across our 30 schools to ensure that we have learnt an important lesson from this regrettable incident."
