24.01.2022 Please take note of the Covid-19 restrictions commencing Sunday 3 January 2021. Stay safe! Food for thought: "Our hope is not in the new year... but in the ONE who MAKES ALL THINGS NEW." Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

23.01.2022 God of Kindness and Compassion, we are your children and you are Father to us all. We give honour and thanks to those who reflect your fatherly example: those who are dads and grandads; step-dads, foster dads, godfathers and fathers-in-law;... those who are coaches, leaders and mentors; and those who are elders and wisdom-men of our communities. We look to these men for strength of body and strength of character. We look to them to pass on skills and pass on stories. We look to them to protect and provide. We look to them for care and compassion. We look to them to be co-creators and stewards of the world. For all those who embrace their role as father, we give thanks. For those who struggle with being fathers, give them strength. For those who are distanced from their children, give them comfort. For those who have passed from this world, give them peace. Bless these men that we call father. Bless them in their strength and in their weakness. Bless them in their joy and in their sorrow. Bless them in their work and in their play. And bless them, Father, for being fathers. We make this prayer through the one who taught us to call you Our Father: Your Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ. AMEN. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

22.01.2022 The Great LIFTED Advent-ure Gospel: Luke 10:21-24 "Reflecting on this Gospel when Jesus rejoices in the Spirit, I am moved by the confidence and faith Jesus had... in his Father. He gave thanks and praised his Father in Heaven. Jesus knew what his Father planned for his life was good and needed in order to fulfil his mission. Gratitude and trust were important in Jesus' life. In this Gospel Jesus tells us something of the close relationship he treasured with his Father through the Holy Spirit. It is a prayer of thanksgiving. They say that we need to have faith like a child, which is pure and full of love. Our childlike faith opens the door to know God more deeply. Christian joy and faith in the Father is a deep reality and brings certainty to our lives. To delight and trust in the Lord reveals true peace we feel when we place our lives in the hands of the Father. Let us pray that we have spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear the goodness of our Father. In this season of Advent, what are we grateful for? How can we recognise the good those do in our life and give thanks, and through this how can we deepen our relationship with the Father, so we may fully live our call and mission that God has entrusted us to fulfil?" 20.01.2022 In the words of Saint Augustine: BE UPRIGHT OF HEART "If you want to be upright of heart, do not be displeased, over anything at all, with God. If you see the r...eason for His doing what He does, do not find fault with Him. If the reason escapes you, understand that the thing is done by One with Whom it makes no sense at all to be displeased." -Sermon 15A, 7 Prayer: Blessed are those who love You, O God, and love their friends in You and their enemies for Your sake. -Confessions 4, 9

19.01.2022 We all love to celebrate birthdays. Today is the birthday celebration of our dear mother. Celebrating her birthday is a way of celebrating her personhood. We celebrate her simply for being herself. We do not necessarily focus in on any of the unique, beautiful and profound aspects of her life today. We do not necessarily look at all she accomplished, her perfect yes to God, her coronation in Heaven, her assumption or any other specifics. All parts of her life are gloriou...s, beautiful, awe-inspiring and worthy of their own unique feasts and celebration. Today, however, we simply celebrate our Blessed Mother because she was created and brought into this world by God and that alone is worth celebrating. We honor her simply because we love her and we celebrate her birthday as we would celebrate the birthday of anyone we love and care for. Reflect, today, upon the fact that Mother Mary is your mother. She truly is your mother and it’s worth celebrating her birthday in the same way that you would celebrate anyone’s birthday who was a member of your family. Your honoring of Mary, today, is a way of solidifying your bond with her and assuring her that you desire her to be an important part of your life. Happy birthday, Blessed Mother! Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

19.01.2022 VOICE OF THE YOUNG: GOSPEL REFLECTION FOR EASTER Victor Daria, a nurse by profession and an active member of the Young Adults Ministry of the Parish of South Ya...rra in Melbourne, shares his reflection for the second Sunday of Easter. GOSPEL A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 20:19-31 In the evening of that same day, the first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood among them. He said to them, ‘Peace be with you,’ and showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord, and he said to them again, ‘Peace be with you.’ ‘As the Father sent me, so am I sending you.’ After saying this he breathed on them and said: ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you retain, they are retained.’ Thomas, called the Twin, who was one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. When the disciples said, ‘We have seen the Lord’, he answered, ‘Unless I see the holes that the nails made in his hands and can put my finger into the holes they made, and unless I can put my hand into his side, I refuse to believe.’ Eight days later the disciples were in the house again and Thomas was with them. The doors were closed, but Jesus came in and stood among them. ‘Peace be with you’ he said. Then he spoke to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; look, here are my hands. Give me your hand; put it into my side. Doubt no longer but believe.’ Thomas replied, ‘My Lord and my God!’ Jesus said to him: ‘You believe because you can see me. Happy are those who have not seen and yet believe.’ There were many other signs that Jesus worked and the disciples saw, but they are not recorded in this book. These are recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing this you may have life through his name. PRAYER God of everlasting mercy, who in the very recurrence of the paschal feast kindle the faith of the people you have made your own, increase, we pray, the grace you have bestowed, that all may grasp and rightly understand in what font they have been washed, by whose Spirit they have been reborn, by whose Blood they have been redeemed. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
