22.01.2022 In the wild back yards and lane ways of Carnegie, an ancient creature roams freely, known to some by foul descriptions and by others as Cheeky Magpie. Most have feared this diabolical bird especially when their young are in the nest. Leaving us locked in our homes too scared to leave, even for our 2 hours that Dan has allowed to inhale clean air and hide from home schoolers. But all is not lost. The Carnegian’s of older times before Covid existed have taught us a way to co...-exist with these mighty creatures, by the cross cultural ritual of paying alms. Using the bird feeder. I have been able to reproduce a version of this mystical contraption from reclaimed decking boards in a very limited amount. To get your hands on one all you need to do is make a donation to the Soup Angels for what you think is a fair amount and PM me at Holywood House and I will make it and deliver it within the local Carnegie community. 21.01.2022 I have spent the morning cleaning up a board that was destined for the rubbish. Unfortunately it killed the shop vac but 10mm below the sun beaten surface was this beautiful piece. It has inspired me to get a beard trim and haircut to see if I look this great on the way to get a new vac. Else Lou might put me in the rubbish trailer that this gem came from. The Great Grump.
14.01.2022 After an eventful night last night involving what looked like a liter of claret poor out of G’s head and a trip to the emergency dept ending at 4am. I had a sleep in and decided I needed a little retail therapy too calm the nerves. I pick up some beautiful pieces of reclaimed Australian hardwood that were first milled when grandpa was an apprentice. These will take on a new life as party sized charcuterie boards with personalise Jarra inlays.
13.01.2022 Thanks Lee for allowing us to be part of this project. The Design, manufacture and install of the custom blackboards has been so much fun. Great to see the budding artist dive in and start creating as soon as the last screw went in.
06.01.2022 Holywood house has been busy in the shed the last few days getting set up for a few up coming inlay projects that we have lined up. Two pages of maths, a few hours getting to understand the software and a way too many hours watching our cutter. I think we nailed it this afternoon. ... This drinks coaster was made from materials heading to the bin and now will be sitting underneath my cuppa. The Great Grump.
05.01.2022 Holywood House has added another Bird feeder design to the Soup Angels fund raising efforts. The Bird Bar design popped into my head in the middle off the night a few weeks back and with a wet Saturday I thought that even the Birds would be wanting to drop into the pub for a counter meal. So into the workshop to make one for them. PM us to order. ... https://www.mycause.com.au//setting-up-the-soup-angel-as-a
