25.01.2022 So true. I’ve worked with many people with autism and each is so different. The key I’ve found is to quickly learn their special interests and use that as much as you can.

25.01.2022 In light of my children getting another year older, I thought I’d share a little about how I’ve gotten to this point. I’ve been a private Disabilty Support worker for over 5 years and previous to that I worked in education with students with special needs. I operated a day care for 14 years in Canada before coming to Australia. If I’ve worked with you or one (or more) of your children, leave a comment below or even attach a photo. I’d love to see how big everyone has become and how well they are doing.

24.01.2022 Happy Halloween

18.01.2022 Are you enabling your child’s won’t-try-anything-new inflexibility? https://bit.ly/3jU0R2G

17.01.2022 Reminded of this recently. I’m a fast talker with information overload sometimes. I’m working on less information and less confusion for at least one of my clients. Getting there.

17.01.2022 I’m currently supporting 8 people through Home and Community Support. I am available 7 days a week at present and provide a wide range of supports including social and community inclusion, personal care, life skills and respite. I work with all ages and abilities. If you’re looking for support please message me and I’ll be in touch. If I can’t work with you, I’ll help you find someone who can.

16.01.2022 Giving people the opportunity to process what’s happening is so important.

16.01.2022 Caught 3 squid with Gavin at Edithburgh. He’s a pretty good fishing instructor. First time fishing in this country.

13.01.2022 I’m taking a client on a twinkle tour this Friday evening. If you’re in SYP (Edithburgh, Coobowie, Yorketown area) and have a few outdoor Christmas decorations, can you please pm me your location so I can make this a special and not too boring experience. Thank you.

13.01.2022 Op shopping made us hungry so a quick stop for a bite to eat.

10.01.2022 Mekhi loves smashed avo on toast with runny eggs but he doesn’t love how I cook bacon

09.01.2022 My son just showed me this about the author in the back of the book he was reading ...

06.01.2022 Today was a few firsts for these boys. A huge weird pumpkin, slimy insides, drawing a design, making pumpkin seeds, and eating pumpkin pie. Thanks Amanda Tonkin for bringing the boys out to experience a little Halloween.

04.01.2022 Richelle’s happiest when she’s cooking. She’s a great cook.

04.01.2022 I am definitely guilty of breaking my own rules on occasion and enabling both of my children at some stage in the last 21-27 years. As a rule, I try hard not to enable them and I’m sure it comes across as mean at times but l think it’s important to understand that I won’t always be there to bale them out or protect them.

03.01.2022 Well worth the read.

01.01.2022 I’m a sensory seeker and sensory avoider I’m both
