24.01.2022 This tool helps lift concrete after long term foundation erosion Via Supportworks

24.01.2022 A man's got to have a shed. That doesn't mean women can't have them too. I've bought one very similar to this one below but my bad yard is so wet its probably going to be a few weeks before I can set it up. The are really easy to put up once you have a solid base to put them on.

23.01.2022 I published my first book on Amazon Kindle yesterday. A short booklet which explains how our home was broken into whilst we were away on holidays and how our beautiful collie (lassie) dogs were killed. 10% of any profits made from the sale of this book will be donated to the Children's Tumour Foundation of Australia. Priced at only $3.15 in Australia you can purchase from the Amazon Kindle Store by following this link: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08JKKLXR9

23.01.2022 Is your builder or renovator registered? Builders and renovations are required to be registered which provides protection for you if something should go wrong. Please don't take the risk of dealing with a shonky. There are a lot of them around, they are not insured and you stand to lose a heck of a lot when permits are not issued and work is not up to standard.

22.01.2022 QUESTION: Whats a good mix for concrete? BILLS ANSWER: If you are mixing concrete by hand or in a small mixer the standard general purpose mix is very easy to... remember ratio of 1-2-4. Thats 1 of cement, 2 of sand and 4 of stone (aggregate). If mixing by hand blend the sand and stone first then add the cement and finally the water. I tend to pile the dry ingredients on a board and shovel it backwards and forwards until it is fully mixed. Then make a volcano shape i.e. a pile with a hole in the middle. Poor the water into this and then shovel the dry ingredient into the hole. If using a mixer put the water in first then I like to put half the sand and half the stone in followed by the cement and then the rest of the sand and stone. It seems to help prevent the cement from lumping. Be careful not to make it too wet. It should be firm like a thick stew, not run like a watery soup. This general purpose mix is suitable for paths and other light concreting tasks. It is not suitable for heavy duty driveways, or house slabs etc where the Engineering design will specify an MPA (megapascal) level, which is the pressure or stress the finished concrete can withstand. Concrete plants will delver concrete to your MPA specifications. SAFETY: Remember that cement is quite very alkaline with a pH of 12 to 13 so you should avoid contact with the skin and eyes in particular. Seek urgent medical advice if you do get cement in your eyes. See more

20.01.2022 If we really care about the future of our planet then we should attempt to compost some of our waste rather than putting it in the bin. My wife and I have reduced our waste by over 50% over recent months by using a rotating composter.

07.01.2022 HOW TO REMOVE WATER-BASED PAINT STAINS FROM CARPET: 1. If the paint stain is still wet, simply blot the spot with a wet paper towel - DO NOT SCRUB, just blot. ...If you scrub you will make the situation worse by speading the paint into other carpet fibres 2. If the paint stain is dry, use hot water and a little bit of dish detergent. Let the solution sit for a few minutes to soften the paint. Once the paint is softened, use a knife or pin to scrape the paint off. Continue to add more solution as you scrape. 3. My favorite, because it works a treat, but TEST on a bit of carpet you won't see, such as underneath a sofa or in a cupboard before using this technique. Put a few drops of Eucalyptus Oil on the dried paint or on a cloth or paper towel and carefully dab the dried paint. Then wipe off with a dry cloth or paper towel. Don't forget to test first to avoid any further damage to your carpet. See more

05.01.2022 If you are moving into a new home then one of the things you are going to need is a clothes line. My wife an I like the old rotary clothes lines but if your garden isn't finished or you have limited space, then these compact folding lines are ideal. In fact we have one in our alfresco / pergola area. It's usable even when it's raining. Would probably even work on the balcony of some flats / apartments.

03.01.2022 PRIME COSTS AND PROVISIONAL SUMS. Prime Cost (PC) items and provisional sums (PS) are two items in a standard building contract which cause great confusion amon...g home buyers. Most building contracts are so called fixed price contracts, but the final contract sum can vary due to fluctuations in PC and PS items amongst other things. A PC item is an amount of money included in a contract sum to purchase a specified item such as tiles, taps, doors or bathroom fittings. An agreed estimated amount is included at contract signing but the specific products are not selected until a later stage. For example if a client selects a more expensive door than allowed by the PC item, say a $500 door compared with a $440 PC amount, a variation will be required to cover the additional $60. If the PC item varies, so will the final contract sum. A provisional sum is an amount of money included in the contract sum to cover work or materials, or both, the extent of which cannot be specifically detailed when entering a contract. Typically, builders will include a PS for sitework costs. The builder is legally required to take reasonable steps to ensure an accurate site works cost estimate. However, in some circumstances, unforeseen events mean that the provisional sum is exceeded, sometimes by a significant amount. This can be added to the contract sum. For example, a building site may seem sandy and clean with minimal siteworks required. However, there may be large limestone rocks or tree trunks concealed below the surface which only emerge once siteworks commence, causing a considerable cost overrun. Buyers need to plan for these contingencies. Careful upfront thinking about tile and door selection or other PC items can ensure that an accurate PC amount is included in the contract. Moreover having a buffer amount in your financial budget to cover any unexpected provisional sum overruns is desirable. (Some text thanks to MBA WA)

02.01.2022 Since being married a few decades ago we had never been broken into. That is until 5 years ago. Since then we have been broken into 3 times. I'm sure if we'd had a decent camera system like this it wouldn't have happened. We now have a very sophisticated alarm system. Click on the image to find out more about this camera and view similar products.

01.01.2022 One of my most used tools by a long shot. I usually have one battery on the drill and the other either charging or ready for use.
