13.01.2022 With Winter fast approaching, and plenty of rain ahead, be aware of movement in your home and subsequent misalignment of doors and strike plates. - Check that doors are actually locking when you close them - Pay attention whether locks are becoming increasingly difficult to lock (This can damage lock internals)... 01.01.2022 With the holiday season fast approaching, here are some tips to keep your home safe: - LOCK your home up tight. Make sure every window and door is securely locked. All entry locations should have deadbolt locks and all windows should be secured. - LOCK your side gates and garages. - LOCK up valuables in a safe or deposit box. - Don't share your plans on social media - you would be suprised how many people can see when you plan to be away from home.... - Don't leave keys outside or under the mat, ask a friend or neighbor you can trust. - A dead giveaway for an absent house is an over-crowded mailbox. Get a friend or neighbor to routinely collect your mail for you. - Ensure lights are set to a timer - not always on or always off to give the impression that the house is vacant. - Install motion activated lights, focus on areas with trees or shrubs that give intruders cover as they attempt to break in. - Be wary of how where you dispose packaging for expensive gifts, your garbage can be like a catalogue of your home's contents. Hopefully these tips will keep your home safe and help you relax while you are away. If you have concerns about the security of your home, call Rob at Homeguard Locksmiths. Happy & Safe Holidays!
