25.01.2022 We would like to introduce you to this adorable sibling duo Xena and Leon! Xena, despite being petite, has a lot of sass. She is bold and inquisitive and likes to follow you all around the house. She has the most gorgeous loud purr and loves nothing more than playtime. Her favourite thing is chin and ear scratches! Leon is a little more cautious. He loves to follow his sister around but prefers to watch for a while before joining in on playtime. He is a real sweethear...t and once settled will entertain you for hours, especially if you bribe him with some very special mice toys he’s even learnt a juggling trick! Leon loves to sprawl out on the couch. Isn’t that what all boys like to do!! They are looking for a quiet home where they can spend the days snuggled up together in a quiet corner or snoozing in the sunshine. Evenings mean playtime. Who needs expensive post-dinner entertainment when you could have these two in your life. Their quirky, entertaining characters will really shine in the right home and we know that there are two super smooches just waiting to call the right person their own. Xena and Leon would prefer no young children or dogs but would be great with other cats! Apply to adopt Xena and Leon here: https://homelesshounds.com.au/animal/xeonandleon/ Important note to those interested in Xena and Leon! If you’re interested in adopting Xena and Lena, please submit an application through our website only and please provide as much detail about you, your home and lifestyle as possible. We are getting dozens, if not hundreds of applications for our animals at the moment, so we are unable to keep up with private messages and emails. By applying on our site, we will be able to spend more time creating new families and saving animals, as opposed to responding to enquiries.

25.01.2022 Meet Brover, also known as Rover, Rovie, Roverino! She is affectionate, playful, goofy and loving. She spends most of her days snoozing away but loves to get out for a couple of short walks a day to smell everything and stretch her legs. She loves other people and will happily receive pats from anyone who will give them to her. She also happily will take herself off to chew on her favourite toys!... She is a beautifully natured dog, with a lot of character! She will keep you entertained with her expressions and her snoring, and she will make the best companion. Rovie is very food motivated and will do anything for a treat, which makes her training easier! She has been working really hard on her training with her foster family so we'd want to keep that up. She'll need a home with no other dogs, cats or children, and ideally, a family who is not working away from home 9-5, 5 days a week. We're looking for a forever family that is committed to her training, and building her confidence around other dogs and the outside world. She has come a long way, but she still has some way to go. She loves routine, so someone that can commit to some consistency would be great for her. We love that what she loves the most is getting cosy with her people. Second to that is sleeping in the sun and eating treats! She's a simple pleasures kind of gal! You can find out more & apply here: https://homelesshounds.com.au/animal/brover/. Important note to those interested in Brover If you’re interested in adopting Brover, please submit an application through our website only and please provide as much detail about you, your home and lifestyle as possible. 25.01.2022 Great news! Our beautiful, beloved Andre has become a foster fail. We always love a foster fail story, but this one, in particular, is very special. It was assumed that Andre would only end up as a barn cat, but due to the hard work of his foster mum, he's now staying put! And even practising yoga in his spare time Thank you so much to Geelong Animal Welfare Society for helping Andre. You've made a huge difference to the life of this beautiful cat.... If you're reading this post and are inspired to become a foster carer - you can apply online here: https://homelesshounds.com.au/foster/

19.01.2022 Hello, I'm Vinny! Named after the great Vincent Van Gogh due to my ears. I absolutely love pats and attention. I love sleeping on the couch next to you or on the end of your bed. Playtime with my people is just the best and if you want a cat to brush, well you have found your perfect boy in me. I am best suited to a house that is a bit more quiet maybe with someone who works part-time. I have lived with other cats but am not a big fan of dogs. No small children, please. Vin...ny’s ear tips were removed as a preventative measure due to sun damage but he has a clean bill of health. He will need to be an inside only cat due to his pale pink skin. Vinny is a quiet, gentle, independent and loving cat who will be a wonderful addition to most homes. Apply to adopt Vinny here: https://homelesshounds.com.au/animal/vinny/ Important note to those interested in adopting Vinny! I absolutely love pats and attention. 17.01.2022 Everyone! This may be the most wholesome thing to happen this year... Homeless Hound Ziggy has happily been with his forever family for a few months now. There is a little boy named Luca that rides his little plastic car past Ziggy's place every day, while walking with his mum. He hangs out the front as he loves seeing Ziggy through the window. Ziggy's owner met Luca out the front last week when she was gardening. Ziggy has also been doing some tricks in the window for Luca. ... Last week Luca drew a picture for Ziggy to tell him what a great dog he is, and on a walk earlier this week, Ziggy gave Luca (via the letterbox) a letter and a present! Lockdown is made easier with great neighbours!

17.01.2022 [Cat Rescue Story Part Two: Squiggles & Giggles] About four weeks after we got Pearl, we received a call to say more kittens had popped up in the same area as Sammy and Crystal. The kittens were near death lying dehydrated in the sun, without their mum anywhere to be found... Squiggles had ants crawling all over him. The vet nurses at @Heathmont Animal Hospital had to bathe & handpick hundreds of fleas off the kittens (swipe to see pics ). The boys were pumped full of fluid...s at the vet and had to be syringe fed. Why are we sharing this with you? Because it's a happy ending! They had a beautiful surrogate mum, Daisy who, along with their foster carer Leeanne, looked after them until they were ready to be rehomed. Squiggles & Giggles have now been re-homed, together! Sleeping easy, right next to each other

16.01.2022 Hi! My name is Will I am a beautiful black and white boy looking for my forever home. My foster describes me as sweet-natured, docile and friendly. I am a lapcat. I love nothing more than getting pets and giving headbutts. In fact, I’ll even come to you at the click of your fingers for some cuddles. When you’re busy doing other things, I like to be your little shadow. ... My foster says that I’m a confident boy and remain unbothered by things like vacuum cleaners, strange noises or even other cats. However, I’m not the biggest fan of dogs. I would be best suited to a home with no dogs or kids under 6. Overall, I am a lovely boy with a sweet personality who would be a wonderful companion to most people. 11.01.2022 Meet Toby! Toby is a big boy with an even bigger heart. He might be shy at first but will warm up really quickly. He loves belly rubs and will be happy to follow you anywhere. He loves his food, which will help with training! He is really young at heart and will be interested in anything you do. He went to the beach for the first time earlier and even if he is a bit sceptical about the waves, he seems to enjoy being near the ocean, but there is nothing he loves more his hum...an. Toby never barks unless someone tries to enter the property or because it’s past bedtime (9pm) and he is tired of you not letting him sleep He has an obsession with cars and loves any road trip. He is a life be in it boy and everything is exciting but the excitement wears off quickly and then he is just happy to be lying on your foot. Toby is little anxious when left alone so someone who is often at home, or someone with another dog that could keep him the company would probably be a good fit. No kids, no cats, no full-time workers please. Toby loves his human with his whole heart and seeks someone who will love him as intensely. To apply to adopt Toby: https://homelesshounds.com.au/animal/toby/ Important note to those interested in Toby If you’re interested in adopting Toby, please submit an application through our website only and please provide as much detail about you, your home and lifestyle as possible. 11.01.2022 [Cat Rescue Story Part Three: Vincent (Van Gough) & Pablo (Picasso)] These two darling cats were completely petrified when the Homeless Hounds team rescued them. They were the last cats that we were remaining in the same area we found Pearl, Squiggles, Giggles, Sammy and Crystal. They were so scared they wouldn't even accept belly rubs or pats. ... Our white friend Vincent was being spoon-fed when we first got him to make sure he was able to eat without his greedy guts ginger mate eating his meals. He also, at the advice of our vet, had to have his ears removed for health reasons - hence the name! A lot of love has gone into rehabilitating these cats, and they are in foster care at the moment. Swipe to see how much the boys love belly rubs now that they've been loved and cared for!!!! Thank you to everyone who has helped us rescue & rehome all of these beautiful cats. It has been an emotional journey, and we could not have done it without our HH community. In particular, a huge thank you to Kirsten MacLeod from Stringybark Wildlife Shelter, the Heathmont Animal Hospital, Leeanne & all the amazing vet nurses.

He loves his food and is quite happy to spend the day just watching the world go by. Sadly Rocky wasn’t in a home that gave him any attention and he is just starting to learn how wonderful it is to feel safe and loved. Rocky would need a nice quiet home with no small children. Older kids are fine. He has lived with other cats... and dogs so he would be ok in a home with other gentle animals. 04.01.2022 This is Odin! Odin is a beautiful purebred Rottweiler with a loving, adventurous and goofy temperament. His foster describes him as 70kgs of big boofhead love and says that he is a massive softy. ... Odin loves just about any activity he can do with his humans, so far his favourites are riding in the car, swimming and exploring the world. Odin is doing a great job learning to walk nicely on lead, but he’ll need his new humans to continue this training. Luckily his fun-loving nature means that there is never a scarcity of opportunities to do this! Odin is a super affectionate and confident boy and warms to strangers and other dogs quickly, but he’s not so sure about kids or cats. For this reason, he is best suited to a home without kids or cats. Overall, Odin is such a special guy with a huge amount of love to give. We’re looking for a family that is committed to his leash training and can provide a home where his days will be interesting, his nights comfortable and where he won’t be lonely. 04.01.2022 UPDATE: Benny is ADOPTED! Hello! I’m Benny. I am a beautiful, loving, Staffy boy, who is looking for a household without kids.... I don’t mean to brag but how pretty is my face everyone always goes on about my symmetrical white patch. But I think my ‘socks’ are my best feature. I love chilling at home, sleeping inside, hanging with my hoomans, going on car rides, and I feel safest when I keep to a routine. Training is very fun for me. I am eager to please and my foster family think I am going to be a really good fit for the right family. Susan from Homeless Hounds called me ‘very adaptable’ which makes me feel pretty chuffed. I’ve got some cool tricks which I cannot wait to show you I sit before crossing the road, I am great at spin and paw, plus tell me to go to my bed and I’ll do it! Of course, I also know the basics sit, wait, drop, etc easy peasy! However, I do need to work on my lead training when I see another dog. We’ll get there if you want to put in the time with me. I don’t need to sleep in your room by the way but if you would like me to join you, I’d be more than happy to keep your toes or head, warm. So one thing I want you to know is that I don’t like the rain so please don’t leave me outside in the cold Melbourne weather, I’d much prefer to be safe and warm inside. Also, I’m sensitive to the grass, so unlike most of my canine friends, I prefer Astroturf to play on. My forever family needs to be home more than away, I’m not a fan of being left alone for long periods of time. Just for the record I consider 4-5 hours a long time!!! I need to be the only animal in the home, so if you have other cats, dogs, animals in your family I’m sorry but I’m not your man. Important note to those interested in adopting Benny If you’re interested in fostering or adopting Benny, please submit an application through this page, and please provide as much detail about you, your home and lifestyle as possible.
