20.01.2022 Introducing one of our Teachers, Yukiko Kominami BMus (Hons) I am from a small town in Kyoto, Japan. It is a beautiful place, but it was not easy to reach music education outside school. However thanks to the support of my family and teachers, I could find a way to study music and I completed a Bachelor of Music Education (piano) in Japan followed by a postgraduate study at the Queensland Conservatorium. I enjoy being a piano teacher very much. Through my teaching experienc...e both in a school setting and on a one-on-one basis, I have taught a variety of students from young children to adult learners including students who want to learn piano just for enjoyment as well as those who wish to sit examinations. Ive been teaching for 3 years and completed Grade 7 AMEB Classical and Grade 5 theory. I was first introduced to music at the age of five, learning the Recorder. My lessons were very enjoyable because my Recorder teacher accompanied the class on the Piano, hence my love for the Piano was discovered. It was only when my family immigrated to Australia a...t the age of eight when I finally started learning the Piano. After ten years of learning to play I started teaching Piano through my music studio, Keys to Piano Music Studio. By contracting my services to Major Player Music School and Emerald Christian College in Central Queensland, I managed to expand my clientele to forty Piano students over the past three years. What an adventure! I absolutely love teaching students of all ages because the way my students develop their love for music through the Piano makes me so excited. Growing up my parents immersed me in music from a young age, signing me up for voice and piano lessons. It was this immersion which brought me to Brisbane to pursue a degree in music. I play a wide range of instruments including guitar, piano and a bit of saxophone but my main love is singing and song writing. The piano is an ...extension of this, and I love to use it to create new ideas, as well as to challenge myself by learning difficult themes from movies such as The Piano, and Jurassic Park. I have a bachelor of contemporary music where I majored in voice, piano and song writing. A dedicated piano teacher with 15 years of teaching experience both in theory and practical. She teaches a range of ages from 4 years to adults, from beginner to advanced levels. Her teaching streams are vast, from playing for leisure to wanting to do exams, from classical music to pop/jazz, and... composition. Over the years of teaching experience, Elizabeth has designed her own step-by-step program for young age beginners.
