18.01.2022 SCHOOL SORES, STAPH, STREP AND IMPETIGO.......... HOW TO IDENTIFY SCHOOL SORES When mozzie bites or eczema patches seem to have baby lesions. The primary sore/bite is surrounded by little red dots/ circular sores.... School sores can spread quickly to other parts of the same body or to other family members. NATURAL TREATMENTS Topical treatments are enough if school sores are treated quickly. If the infection takes hold an internal natural antibiotic will be necessary. Chemical antibiotics such as cephlex or dicloxacillin are necessary if the infection site is close to the brain or is not responding to internal natural antibiotics. TOPICAL TREATMENTS Be careful not to cross contaminate when applying. You can use a combination of these treatments. Tea tree oil baths 2-8drops Tea tree lotion -8drops into 3 tablespoons of witchazel lotion/ aloe vera gel. Oregano oil - 1-2 drops on the soles of each foot twice daily. Poultices - 1/2 teas green clay, 1/2 teas manuka honey, 3drops tea tree oil, 4drops of goldenseal tincture; keep covered. Antibiotic gel - add to a base of 1 tablespoon of aloevera; 5drops Tea tree oil, 10drops calendula oil, 4drops of goldenseal tincture. INTERNAL REMEDIES Available from health food shops and your Naturopath. 12.01.2022 PREVENTING COLDS, FLUS AND REPEATED INFECTIONS..... THE BASICS: Early nights, great peaceful sleeps Whole foods Lots of cuddles, kisses and Love The odd rest day off school/kindy/childcare if too much has been happening.... A HEALTHY GUT FLORA is essential for a healthy immune systems in babies and small children. A good probiotic most days until 3yrs old and regularly throughout the winter months until 5 yrs old is ideal. Fermented foods such as keffir, yoghurt, fermented fish and vegetables (see Sally Fallon's work- Nourishing Traditions). Extra probiotics are necessary after c section births; when weening before 3 years; after vaccinations and the use of antibiotics. CLEAR LYMPHATIC GLANDS UNDER THE JAWLINE and around the neck are extremely helpful in preventing URTI in children. When children are small their glands can become easily congested. The longer the glands stay engorged, the greater chance of ear, nose and throat infections starting or re-occuring. Ways to clear glands: avoid wheat and dairy green clay poultices gentle tapping/massage of the area 1-2x/day. Essential oils-eucalyptus 2drops lemon 1 drop lavender 3drops in a desert spoon of base oil. Homoeopathics and Schussler Tissue Salts are invaluable! My favourite remedies: "Lyphomyocot" by Heel and Homoeopathic Phytolacca. Tissue salts- calcium sulphate, potassium sulphate, potassium chloride, silica. Herbal remedies - clivers and poke root. 01.01.2022 Recipe for Organic Coconut Butter Shortcake.. My friend Wiesia (Veesha) made us these divine biscuits for Christmas. They smell & taste amazing! What I like best is the fact coconut sugar doesn't re-act with our bodies like horrible cane sugar. Whole food biscuitsyummy! Butter Shortbread 125g Organic butter... 125g (approx 1/2 cup) organic coconut oil 1/2 cup organic coconut sugar 1 1/2 cups of organic plain flour 1 1/2 cups of organic coconut flour 2 teaspoons grated lemon grind Have butter at room temperature. Combine butter, sugar and lemon rind in a small basin of electric mixer. Beat at low speed to combine the ingredients, increase the speed to medium and beat well. Gradually add flour and mix well together to form a firm dough. If the mixture is too dry add 1-2 teaspoons of oil. Turn on to the lightly floured surface, knead until smooth. Roll out to 1cm thickness. Cut out shapes using cutters. Place an lightly greased oven trays. Bake in moderate oven 20 min-utes or until golden. Stand on tray for few minutes, cool on wire rack. Makes 25-30 biscuits depending on the size of cutters. Enjoy! Note: Keep whole lemon in the freezer. It is easy to grate with the skin on. This can be a healthy addition to salad dressings, soups or gravies. Coconut products can be purchased from Wiesia’s local company www.ganoorganics.com.au. 01.01.2022 Organic Coconut Oil...A truly heavenly anti-aging food. Suitable for the whole family...I love using coconut oil! You can look up the internet to read all it’s health benefits which include everything from reversing dementia to gum dis-ease. Different to many cure-alls I have found coconut oil to be miraculous. It is something we should use internally/externally most days. If you are having difficulty getting your children to eat it, put a tea-spoon and dessertspoon in their ...bath a couple of times a week. We absorb 70% of what goes on our skin! Ways to Use Organic Coconut Oil * 1 teaspoon in a cup of tea (I am not a tea drinker so this one isn't for me) * Use in cooking, as you would any cooking oil you can safely heat/fry. It suits fish, chicken, rice, vegetables, pancakes. * Use in baking - see our attached recipe. * Use in smoothiesyou can’t really taste or smell it if you use banana, berries, cinnamon and/or cacao. * Eat off the spooneven a teaspoon per day helps. * Use for ‘oil pulling’ an Indian medicine technique that works for gum disease. * Use as a moisturiser neat on your skin. Many of my clients do this daily without looking, smelling or feeling greasy. They use small amounts. * Use as a base oil with any essential oils for massage oils, baths/body oils. * Use as a personal lubricant. * Use as a barrier cream or nappy rash cream. A brilliant anti-fungal also great for cleaning off the poop! Coconut oils is safe for babies except those with a salicylate sensitivity. Patch test before use. Coconut oil is wonderful for pregnant women.
