24.01.2022 ON HOLD *** URGENT FOSTER CARER NEEDED *** Ahri | 6 years old | Siberian Husky| Female... Located in Melbourne Ahri is looking for a home: - Without cats or pocket pets - 6ft+ secure, husky-proof fencing - With an active family that will commit to long daily walks - A home that will allow her inside - Family with lots of love to give Is this sounds like your household, read on! Miss Ahri is the perfect family girl. She loves her humans fiercely with all her heart and wants to protect and love them. Would suit a family with kids, as she loves nothing more than the sound and laughter of her little humans running around. She has a super gentle nature and has never shown any aggression towards children or anyone for that matter. Her perfect day would be getting up and starting her day with a nice, long lead walk, some breakfast and then lounging about with her people for the day inside the house. She loves to be out and about and enjoying all the sights and smells of the world. If she does not get this lovely, long morning walk, she will try and make this happen herself by whatever means she can. She will dig, she will climb and she will try and open gates and basically will do whatever it takes to get out to enjoy her walk. If this is something that you can’t commit to every, single day then gorgeous Miss Ahri is not the dog for you. Ahri is super excited once she is out and about, so some training will be required to get her to walk on lead without pulling. With some basic obedience training this will bring out the best in this gorgeous girl. 24.01.2022 **** ON HOLD ***** *** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION*** Rona | 3 years 10 months | Female | Siberian Husky Located in Melbourne... Rona is looking for a home: - Where she can be an inside dog - Has other dogs to keep her company - Without cats or pocket pets - Has secure 6ft husky (dig) proof fences - With family that will giver her plenty of exercise and shower her with love Rona is a truly lovely, gentle husky with lots of love to give. She deserves a happy and loving home that will allow her to be an inside girl and a big part of the family. They say that food can be the window to a huskys soul, and in the case of Rona, its true. Rona has lovely, gentle manners when shes taking food or treats. Rona is a beautiful gentle soul, behaves like the perfect lady, and will steal the hearts of the lucky family who adopt her. Rona is 3 years 10 months old, is wonderful with children (she will shower them with kisses), and will adore being in a household with another dog or two, as she adores their company. Rona is fully housetrained, knows how to use a doggy door, and is crate trained. She has access to the house and yard, will enter or leave her crate when instructed, and often chooses to hang out and nap in there of her own volition. She loves having her own space, and when its time to re-join the household, shes very responsive and joins the pack. Rona is a bit of a princess, who likes to find an excellent vantage point and check out the movements of the household, when shes not stealing hearts. A household with some fellow dogs will be a must, and despite Rona not having had much socialisation in her foster home thanks for Covid-19, shes fostered in a house with three other dogs and has happily met other dogs one-on-one. While shes nervous at the start with new dogs, she quickly warms up and loves playing. Shes also formed a fabulous friendship with one of her foster dog friends and they spend hours playing in the back yard. The usual husky rules apply, with secure 6ft husky proof fences, no pocket pets, plenty of exercise, plus love and affection that will be returned in spades. Adoption Fee $500 Microchip 982000405913021 Source EE100640 If you think you can give Rona her perfect home, please complete an application on our website https://homesforhuskies.org.au/adopt/
23.01.2022 *** ON HOLD *** *** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION *** Ginny Female | 16 mnths old | Siberian Husky... Located in Melbourne Ginny is looking for a home with: - A decent sized yard, secure 6ft dig proof fences - No cats or pocket pets - Plenty of love and exercise - Would love to join a family of older children or a young couple dedicated to taking her on walks and playing with her. - Meets and greets are essential part of the adoption process to ensure we can match Ginny with the family and current dogs ( if any ) that is the best possible fit for her. If you can offer Ginny the home she needs, let us introduce you to her! Get your cameras ready, because weve got a very gorgeous ginger husky girl strutting on through. Ginny is a 1.5 years old with amber eyes who is delightfully vibrant and playful, with plenty of brains to boot! She is full of love, enjoys a pat and a snuggle, and is fascinated by the world around her. Ginny loves nature and has thoroughly enjoyed the bushwalks shes been on. She adores her walks, visits to the beach (splashing included), keeping active, and would love to join a family of older children or a young couple dedicated to taking her on walks and playing with her. The way to Ginnys heart is via liver treats, and shes also a sucker for her play toys. Ginny is always learning and knows sit, stay and drop. Shes also well-behaved inside, and knows to sit quietly, but does love to play chasey with her ball sometimes around the kitchen table. She adores other dogs and gets along brilliantly with bigger dogs. Shes learning to sit when other dogs approach, because her enthusiasm and excitement sometimes gives smaller dogs a heckin concern. Ginny is really smart and would love someone who can keep working on her training shes definitely got capacity to learn more manners and tricks, even though shes great already! Ginnys carer tells us that shes a truly amazing, has lots of love to give, and is delightful and well-behaved to boot. Shell make an amazing new member of any household. 22.01.2022 HAKON'S FUNDRAISER GOAL REACHED!!! Thank you to everyone who responded to our call to help Hakon. We have now reached the goal and he got the CT he needed. Here is a note from his mum Pip and update on CT results:... I just wanted to say a massive THANKYOU! Thankyou to everyone single one of you who donated, also a massive thankyou to Homes for Huskies Rescue who put together this fundraiser in the first place. Without all the help in donations we wouldn't have been able to do Hakon's CT scan. Honestly brought me to tears seeing everyone rally around to help Truly beautiful to have the love and support from so many. UPDATE: Last Thursday we woke up at 4am and headed to Melbourne for a 9am appointment, Advanced Vetcare had managed to pull a last minute appointment with the oncologist (the other option was to wait till the end of April so we took it!). We had an hour long consultation with the oncologist and then they took him for blood work and then the CT scan. While he was in recovery I had a consultation with a surgeon who a had assessed him while he was under and then after he was back in my arms we had a final talk with the oncologist to talk options. 6.30pm I finally got to take my sleepy boy back home. RESULTS: So the CT showed that the cancer hasn't spread from his jaw or at least not visibly, his lungs and other limbs are clear. For such an aggressive cancer it's kind of amazing, it appears to have had an initial spread and then slowed temporarily. Maybe that cancer diet is working! Which means we may be able to either remove a quarter of his jaw (he will still have full function to eat) or do radiation. It's not a guarantee but it could give us more time, and the specialist seem positive. With cancer removed the pain will be too. Statically 14-18 months possibly even more time with a 20% chance of cancer coming back. They said they have had some dogs go for 2-4 years from treatment. Honestly we thought it had already spread to his lungs from signs he was showing so it was really good news. The only down side is Hakon has been having an intestinal bleed for the last week so he isn't very well, his blood work shows he is anaemic and has an infection (caused by being haemophiliac not the cancer). Which means he isn't well enough for cancer treatment at the moment. In the past he has always recovered from bleeds so we hope that will be the case once again, more blood tests this week and we will continue checking until he is well again. This CT has given us a lot of hope and good news we truly weren't expecting after vets had told us to get ready to say goodbye. Quality of life is most important, that will always come first while we prepare for the next step. There is a good chance if we can get him treatment he can live a happy and comfortable life with us for a bit longer Thankyou all Lots of love and hugs from Hakon and Pip xxx
21.01.2022 Can you help Kayla? Kayla is one of the dogs we rescued few years ago. She came into the rescue like many with a very sad past but was adopted by the most amazing family. She has always been full of energy and just loves getting up to no good with her other 4 furr siblings but this week she has become very unwell and after a visit to emergency, few overnight stays at the vets and many expensive tests, it is still not clear what is wrong. She has been in their own vet since T...hursday. So you can images the ongoing costs. Her family are committed to do whatever it takes to help their cheeky girl but the vet costs are adding up quickly. They have started a go fund me campaign and any donation no matter how small will be extremely appreciated! https://www.gofundme.com/f/k9say-kaylas-recovery
20.01.2022 *** ON HOLD *** *** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION *** Addie | Siberian Husky | 8.5 yrs | Female Located Melbourne ... We know that perfect huskies are everywhere (we think we’re a little biased, of course) but sometimes we cross paths with an even more perfect husky, like Addie. Addie is a beautiful, eight and a half year old black and white husky girl who is looking for a perfect furever home that is almost as perfect as she is. So, why all the praise? She’s just so darn lovely. Addie is calm, gentle, confident, polite, chatty in an adorable way, and looks forward to cuddles and belly rubs. Nothing ruffles her, and she loves her belly rubs so much she’ll give up even food for scratches. She doesn’t even give a hoot about storms. Addie is a great companion on a long walk or run (she even has good manners on lead and with other dogs), and you wouldn't hesitate to bring her along to a cafe. She just adapts to everything and takes life in her stride. What else? She loves to be close to humans, is happy to play or lie calmly whatever suits, is social but never in anyone's face, is relaxed with small dogs, and travels well. She’s also great with her human foster friend, who is 8 years old, and their friends too! Addie is delightfully polite when it comes to food she’s very patient and waits to be served, and doesn’t monster her humans if they’re eating. She is even polite when it comes to bathroom time, and is house-trained, asks very sweetly when she needs to go outside or plonks herself at the door to let you know. One of Addie’s really lovely qualities is she’s very talkative and chatty, but she is not noisy. Her foster neighbours have said; "We never hear anything, if we didn't see her, we wouldn't know you had a dog". Isn’t she delightful? Addie is looking for a home to share all that love around, and she’s fit, healthy and has so many years of love to give. She’s a gorgeous girl and we really want to see her live her best live, and help her new humans live theirs. Addie is currently in care with a female husky, that she gets along very well with and a young male husky that she is in love with. She could be a new friend for a current suitable sized dog or as an only dog. - Meets and greets are an essential part of the adoption process. The usual husky rules apply, with no cats or pocket pets, secure, 6ft dig proof fencing and lots of love. Source EE100640 MC 982000356472916 Fully vetworked Adoption fee $400 Addie is not suitable for apartment living, rural properties or residences with court yards. They just wanted to cuddle the humans or each other or have a playfight but when treats were in offer they sat perfectly, thankfully Keep a look out for their profile coming

11.01.2022 Meet 6 of our RSPCA rescues: Nala, Zelda, Ronin, Lasha, Dottie & Tucson. Two weeks ago we shared our joint effort in finding homes for 47 huskies that were surrendered to RSPCA. So far we have been able to place 13 into foster care, with a couple settling into their adoption homes. We have 3 more to go into care, just waiting on their desex to be completed next week.... Dottie, Mesa, Tucson, Chance, Luna, Lasha, Nala, Biscuit, Zelda, Sadie, Ronin, JB & Ninja are now enjoying their well deserved freedom and what its like to live in a home with caring families helping them adapt to many new life experiences. Everything for them has been a learning curve, its been very scary initially but they are adjusting well and starting to show their little personalities. We are grateful to our incredible foster carers for all the work you have done to help them along their new life journey!!!
11.01.2022 *** ON HOLD *** *** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION *** Johan | 4 years old | Siberian Husky Located in Melbourne... Johan is looking for a home with: - Secure 6ft dig proof fences - No cats or pocket pets - Plenty of love and exercise - Suited to older children home that are dog savvy and adults that have experience - Meets and greets are essential part of the adoption process to ensure we can match Johan with the family and current dogs ( if any ) that is the best possible fit for him. If you can offer him the home he needs, let us introduce you to him. Someone call GQ magazine, because weve got a very handsome, sweet gentleman that the world needs to find out about. Johan is sweet husky with beautiful ice-blue eyes and a stunning coat, hell make his new humans very happy indeed. Johan is smart, learns quickly, chilled out, relaxed and human social, so hes got all the ingredients to be a part of a very happy household. Johan brings a great balance of independence and social skills, he loves a good chat in the mornings after spending the night sleeping on the end of your bed, loves to play with you and his soft toy, then will go and hang out happily by himself in the garden beds and play with his ball. Hell go best in a household where he can wander in and out throughout the day and just enjoy life. Johan is absolutely amazing on lead and loves his walks, with no pulling, and brings his curious mind and sniffs with him. A brisk 30-minute walk will keep him happy, but if youre offering longer or more frequent walks, hes certainly not going to say no! Johan is a mobile dog, and likes travelling in the car, plus he has loads of tricks up his furry little sleeves and is a very well-behaved boy who loves to please. He knows sit, lie down, shake, out of camp (go away) and to wait for his food. Hes smart and would love to learn more, so if his new people want a husky with all the tricks, Johan is sure to please! Johan can be a little fussy with his food, because hes much more interested in whatever his people are eating. Hell even try and pinch people food, so a pro-tip from us is to pop him away at mealtimes so you can eat in peace and hes eating dog-appropriate chow. He is a truly delightful, sweet lad, with just the right blend of smarts, social skills and chill to make him a fabulous addition to a household. Plus hes very handsome and is sure to catch lots of compliments on his Blue Steel looks. Johan comes fully vetworked, desexed and housetrained. Sadie is looking for a home: - Where she will be the only dog - That has NO cats or pocket pets - With secure 6ft and dig proof fencing - A home that will allow her inside - No children - Experienced home required Sadie is the most adorably affectionate husky you could possibly imagine and loves nothing more than to be all over her human showering with kisses; if you dont love continual cuddles and smooches Sadie is not for you. Despite Sadies deprived past, she has come such a long way. She now knows how to walk on a lead and loves nothing more than her twice daily walks and runs. She has become healthy and sleek, very athletic with her healthy diet (which she devours with gusto), and now shes easily able to manage a 10K run. Shes had also learnt how to sit and is just beginning to learn to wait for a few seconds. Shes a great little sleeper and loves routine. She is an absolute delight! Her foster carer would love to keep Sadie; but alas she is a girl who needs to be an only dog so she can pour all her love unshared onto her human/s. She tolerates other dogs and walks beautifully in her pack of 3 (plus some when we get together for playdates with furry friends); but she wants her human/s all to herself the rest of the time and isnt interested in mingling much with her foster bro and sis. Experienced home preferred. Adoption Fee $500 Microchip 953010000668953 Source EE100640 If you think you can give Sadie her perfect home, please complete an application on our website https://homesforhuskies.org.au/adopt/ Due to the COVID-19 restriction in Melbourne and wider Victoria, where are still navigating through the requirements of what rescues are allowed to do at the moment. If you are interested in adopting the dogs from us, we encourage you to apply and begin the process, even though it might take longer than usual for us to complete the process. We appreciate your patience.
07.01.2022 *** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION *** Manni | 2 years | Male | Siberian Husky Located in Melbourne... Manni is looking for a home: - Where he will be the only dog - That has NO cats or pocket pets - With secure 6ft and dig proof fencing - A home that will allow him inside - A home with no small children older children would be best as he can be a clumsy klutz when in a rush - Active home, that will make him a part of their everyday lives Husky lovers, meet Manni (also known as Manu) a most darling boy. This lad would put the cast of Ocean’s Eleven to shame he’s so handsome, so Brad and George, bow down. Manni has striking champagne eyes and beautiful auburn and beige markings that come with a cheeky smile, and he’s beautiful both inside and out. From the minute you wake up to the minute you go to sleep, you will be entertained and Manni is the ultimate love bug, goof ball and cuddle pot who just wants to be close to his humans. He is chatty and curious - it’s all about the smells and things that move. He likes being outside, but needs a home where he can retreat inside to relax. While he knows a lot of commands (sit, wait, come, no & ok) Manni is looking for a patient owner who can help him be more relaxed around other dogs. He needs to learn a lot of boundaries, from walks to food to exploring to socialisation, but he wants to learn and please. Manni tends to steal things when he is bored, like paper, plastic and cardboard. He’s a truly darling lad, but needs the right family that will be committed to spending time and teaching him boundaries in the first few weeks. Manni would be best suited to a family where is he the king of the castle. Because of his dominant, playful nature, he can provoke other pets keeping you on your toes. He needs to learn a few more skills before he can be left unsupervised with other dogs, but on his own, he will be the best friend you ever had. So if you are ready to love and be loved unconditionally Manni may be the perfect fur baby for you. He deserves a loving home, so please be sure that you are ready and capable of giving him the attention he needs. Not suitable for apartment living, rural properties or residences with court yards. Interstate adoption considered to experienced homes. Adoption Fee $500 Fully Vetworked Microchip 953010003440166 Source EE100640 If you think you can give Manni a home, please complete an application on our website https://homesforhuskies.org.au/adopt/

04.01.2022 ON HOLD *** LOOKING FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION HOME *** Assassin | 11 years old | Siberian Husky | Male Located Melbourne... Assassin (Sass) is looking for a home where: - He will be allowed indoors - He will get daily walks - No young children - No cats, pocket pets - A decent sized yard with grass and shelter - Lots of attention and love Sass’s family can no longer give him the time he deserves and he wants, so we are looking for that perfect family to make him a part of their daily lives. Here’s a little about this darling bloke. Sass is a very sweet, relaxed, healthy senior man. Assassin is a quirky 11 year old husky in a puppy's body. He is boisterous and cheeky. He loves playing and sleeping in the rain, loves a long walk, and happy to sleep in the garden rather than his nice warm bed. Sass shows his affection by nuzzling his nose in all kinds of places. He has striking blue eyes and a copper coat but hates bug zappers and peanut butter! He walks ‘ok’ on lead, he does like pull at first, like most huskies but settles quickly. He is an energetic, well tempered husky that still can act like a puppy. Sass can be a bit anxious when outside, he wants to be able to come inside when his humans are home. He hasn’t had much exposure to children so would suit a home with either no children or in a home with older dog savvy children. Sass is not suitable for apartments or rural living and is not available for interstate adoption. Adoption Fee $350 Microchip 981000300452163 Source EE100640 If you think you can give Sass his perfect home, please complete an application on our website https://homesforhuskies.org.au/adopt/ If you are interested in fostering him, please complete foster carer's application https://homesforhuskies.org.au/foster/
