18.01.2022 Driving in Australia is necessary especially if you live in outer suburbs far from the city. However, there are key things to be noted when driving in the CBD. ... One of them is mastering the hook turn. The hook turn was invented to counter the problems of turning right across the tram tracks in the CBD. This involves turning right from the left lane. To execute a hook turn, approach the intersection in the left lane, and indicate to turn right. Proceed into the intersection as far left as possible ,moving across until you end up being perpendicular to traffic which is heading in the direction you want to turn (who are waiting at a red light). Observe the traffic lights to your right. Once green, you turn to your right and proceed as normal. Refer to the picture below to know how it looks like! For more information on driving in Australia, come for AFIS Info Day 2018 for absolutely no charge at all!!. 01.01.2022 A Message From Victoria Police! International students, notably Chinese international students, please be aware of scammers, targeting students via social media... contacts (Whatsapp, WeChat, etc.) and mobile phone contact. These scammers use numbers thought to be from the Chinese Embassy or the Consulate-General. Please be informed that Chinese Embassy and the Chinese Consulate-General have confirmed they would never call Chinese citizens requesting personal information, such as bank account information or passport details. If you think you are being scammed or or have been a victim of scamming, please contact the local police immediately. Please be safe and spread the word. Warm regards, AFIS Team.
