07.01.2022 Who knew Friday July 17th was National Pyjama Day? Well the residents and staff of our home certainly did! For a gold coin donation, staff and some of the residents wore their PJs to help raise funds and awareness for children placed in Foster Care. Money raised for The Pyjama Foundation helps offer learning skills to more than 1,000 children, as well as fund educational resources and provide the emotional support the children need to achieve their dreams and reach their... full potential. A fashion parade was held in the main residence area with the residents sipping on hot chocolates with marshmallows. The winners of the best PJ Outfit were chosen based on a clapping system! The louder the claps the more votes! First prize was taken out by Donna, followed a close second by Rosie. Hair rollers were clearly the big winners on the day! Special mention needs to be made of our Facility Manager Bronwyns Sausage Slippers and matching Sausage Dog! A big thanks to our dedicated staff for making Pyjama Day so enjoyable, for dressing up in their PJs and to our wonderful residents, who embraced the fashion parade with enthusiasm and smiles. To find out more about our short term and long term accommodation call us on (03) 9559 0400. #nationalpjday #agedcare #agedcaremelbourne #agedcaregeelong #homestyle #homestyleagedcare #pyjamaday #belmontgrange
06.01.2022 Who ever thought now is not a good time to be fund-raising, has not come across the comradery, community and determination of residents and staff alike at Belmont Grange! Roz, one of Belmont Granges much-loved staff members, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Rozs colleagues and residents put their thinking caps on as to how they could best support Roz, whilst she is currently not at work and receiving treatment. After consultation with Roz, a fundraiser for the Br...east Cancer Network Australia was decided upon. Thursday June 25th was coined Pink Day and with just three weeks of planning and organisation until the big day, there was much to do and prepare! Jodie organised the prizes and collected donations, Roz herself helped to wrap the prizes, our Catering Manager Chris made a wonderful cake with a pink lady on it and our Lifestyle Co-ordinator Bridgette made some special cupcakes. Nurse Robyn had t-shirts made for staff with the motto Friends dont let Friends fight Cancer Alone and a special t-shirt made for our guest of honour Roz that said it all Fighting Cancer and Still Feeling Fabulous. With all the preparations complete it was time for the big day! The afternoon began with around 50 residents and staff meeting in our main lounge, social distancing and all dressed in pink. Once the tea and cakes were served it was time for MC Bronwyn to raffle the prizes and there were close to fifty of those! Raffle tickets had been purchased by residents, their families and friends and staff, not just at our home but at Homestyle Head Office as well. One resident won a few prizes so kindly decided to donate some back, Bronwyn then ran a live auction with each prize going to the highest bidder! An incredible $1,420 was raised from raffle tickets and our live auction but wait theres more! For 55 hours only all donations were matched by the Breast Cancer Network Australia generous partners, Manildra Group and Konica Minolta Australia! Their Giving Campaign matched donations from these two companies, and this meant we raised $2,840 supporting the 55 Australian women diagnosed with breast cancer every day. Thank you to all our wonderful staff and team at Belmont who contributed to making this day such a success. To our fabulous residents, their families and friends, staff who donated and especially to Roz who embraced this day with gusto and support for the greater good. We wish you all the best with the rest of your treatment Roz and look forward to the day we can have you back as part of our special team at Belmont Grange. If you would like to find out more about our Homestyle Belmont Grange home or any of our Homes call us on (03) 9559 0400.

01.01.2022 Homestyle is excited to announce we are rolling out new interactive technology across all our homes to provide a fully immersive and engaging experience for our residents living with dementia. The Virtual Forest program is a peaceful and enjoyable experience, transporting users to an explorative, engaging and empowering environment of an expansive park-like setting on a screen, where seasons can be changed with a wave or the clap of hands with a motion sensor! The experience is designed to give back some control to people living with dementia. This can be used as a personal experience or shared with carers and residents alike. As well as being a stimulating experience, it also encourages users to communicate with others.
