22.01.2022 Grescha is a co-founder of Honey Bee Homes and has been a nurse in aged care for over 25 years, and in a management role for the past 15 years. She’s operated low, high care and dementia specific aged care villages. She is a qualified naturopath, nutritionist and remedial massage therapist. She loves making a difference to the lives of those who feel vulnerable in their ageing process. She believes life should be even more enjoyable the more you age and has stories to prove it. A surfing mum, perpetual home re-decorator, bee lover, baker, traveller, tea drinking craft lover.

20.01.2022 This time of year we all need to be taking extra care to stay healthy. Washing your hands is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from getting sick. A fun way to remember how long you should wash your hands for, is to sing Happy Birthday slowly to yourself.

19.01.2022 Meet Jo she’s a Honey Bee Homes co-founder. Jo has 20 years experience working in aged care and caring for people with dementia and she’s passionate about creating an environment where people feel at home. She knows it has such a positive affect on their health and well-being. Jo grew up in the New Forest, in rural England, and she completed her registered nurse training at the famous St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London before travelling the world as a nurse. More recently sh...e studied dementia care at the University of Tasmania. Jo also has a background in nutrition and founded her own catering business in London. She strongly believes in the importance of a balanced, nutritious diet to promote good health and well-being. When she isn’t working or spending time with her family, she can be found hiking in the wilderness, camping under the stars or looking after her much-loved colony of bees. See more

09.01.2022 Have you written a Will? Have you allocated where you want your superannuation to go when you die? All pretty important stuff, listening to Ep 4 of this podcast is a great reminder that you should go and write that Will today!

08.01.2022 "There is also a push to provide a more home-like environment in nursing homes and one that is more resident-oriented. This includes smaller facilities with flexible routines (so you don't necessarily have to eat at a set time), access to outdoors and opportunities to make meals or do other domestic jobs. A 2018 Flinders University study found the home-style model creates a better quality of life for people with dementia, as well as fewer hospitalisations."

08.01.2022 Residential Aged Care certainly isn’t for everyone and when the time comes the decisions can be overwhelming! We love that a silver lining to this family’s change in work habits has meant that they can support their mother at home surrounded by the people she adores most in the world. If you find yourself stuck in an aged care dilemma, contact us so we can talk you through some options.

04.01.2022 We welcome couples to come and live with us. So often we have seen couples having to separate as one declines, leaving the other at home alone. It’s heartbreaking to watch a couple go through this after 60 years of marriage. Couples who want to stay together must be able to, it just the right thing to do!

03.01.2022 Death is certain, although the time and circumstances are uncertain. The best time to prepare is in the fullness of our lives. Death doesn't have to be incredibly expensive, and you might be surprised at how many options you have when purchasing a coffin or arranging an end of life celebration.

02.01.2022 Opening our doors soon!

01.01.2022 We love it when people come together to look at different ways of delivering aged care to their community. We know it can’t be a one size fits all approach and maintaining connections is so important in reducing isolation.
