23.01.2022 It's spring! Sun is shining, grass is growing, cows are calving. Unfortunately when you own livestock (we run cattle on our 100 acre block), things don't always go to plan. We lost two of our older cows this season, but the upside is we now have cute little orphans residing at the Hoof and Hound. Meet Jack, Joey and little Monster (our neighbour's orphan)

23.01.2022 We are so lucky to always get the most wonderful guests

22.01.2022 We're back!!! It is wonderful to be able to welcome guests back to the Hoof and Hound. Meet our first guest Sophie, who is here for the week with her Dad Jon and Mum Angela.

20.01.2022 As everyone takes precautions to look after themselves, and in doing so plays a part in protecting the whole community from covid-19, it is understandable that bookings have been postponed or cancelled. All cancelled bookings are eligible for a full refund of any payment made. This morning was a reminder that the world still turns and the sun still rises

18.01.2022 After a tense afternoon/evening on Friday 10th Jan, I am happy to say that we are safe from the fire currently burning in the Mt Buffalo region. We are still shrouded in smoke, but in this case, it's because of backburning and control lines being established which will restrict the fire spread to it's current footprint. We have the assistance of 70 firefighters from USA, the Australian Defence Force, as well as the Forest Fire Management Victoria, Parks Vic, Hancock Victorian Plantations, and numerous CFA crews, all working together to ensure the safety of everyone and achieve the best outcome. Hoping that we get some of the forecast rain heading our way

13.01.2022 Time for a winter warmth look on these grey days

11.01.2022 A week ago we were shrouded in thick smoke as the Mt Buffalo fire spotted into farm land, I was rostered on for Saturday day shift on our Mudgegonga tanker, and it felt like we were going to be battling for weeks. What a difference a cool change and 40mm rain makes, so lucky to be enjoying a beautiful evening out on the bbq deck

08.01.2022 And once again - we are open and ready to welcome our first guests after yet another lockdown period. Unfortunately the bookings from the Melbourne zone have had to be cancelled once again Feeling very sad for those who were looking forward to a Spring getaway.

06.01.2022 Minnie (Min) the cavoodle has been staying with her family for the past week, and she is obsessed with the the calves in the paddock! I knew we put a window seat there for a reason!!

05.01.2022 Posted by a friend who works for APT. I wish more people were aware of the ridiculously high commission charges, and the lack of flexibility when it comes to rates charged on the big booking sites. We are on Dogs on Holiday and Travel Victoria, (run by the same company) - a one off annual subscription, and direct contact from guests via email or phone - so much better for us and our guests.

05.01.2022 Incoming! A burst of wintery weather yesterday, but the poddies aren't silly, all tucked up in their little shed.

05.01.2022 Even though the lifts at Falls Creek aren't running, the mountain is still open to regional Victorians, but if you are unwell or high risk, please don't travel. https://www.snowsbest.com/falls-creek-open/
