25.01.2022 Finished! A square for a future quilt.

24.01.2022 Should be folding washing but sneaking in a little bit of water colour painting with my biggest fans.

23.01.2022 It’s coming ... and so is Christmas! This will become a beginners kit for a workshop that a friend has booked to celebrate her birthday (with a Christmas stitching theme).

22.01.2022 I gave some ‘visible mending’ a go on my sister in law’s old jeans. She just wanted one part patched up. I tried one version but wasn’t happy so unpicked and tried a different colour combination. I’m disappointed with the Sashiko thread colour I ended up going with but it’s at the point where I’ve spent enough time on them so it’ll have to do. It’s patched. Hoping I get another opportunity to try a different style and design to improve my mending skills.

21.01.2022 What makes your heart happy? My friend @tashwrathall sent me pics of her two oldest sons (and gave me permission to share). The younger one (pictured by the tree) came to my stitching bears workshop over the weekend with Mum, Tash. He didn’t quite get his bear finished but was very thorough in the job he did during the session and showed great determination to get it completed at home. Her oldest son has stitched with me before but did not join us at the workshop. She had a...sked to purchase an extra bear kit due to this but then he went and broke his arm! Thinking he wouldn’t get onto it until closer to Christmas, he proved her wrong and stitched his bear with a broken arm!! Hats off guys - you’re the best... And just SO lovely!! What makes my heart happy? THIS!! Children having a go at creative pursuits and I truly feel proud to play a small part in it.

20.01.2022 Where do you stitch? Here’s me on a couch at a shopping centre with a take away (!!!) coffee because no cafes are open past 4:30! Killing an hour while my daughter attends a workshop nearby and going for a walk outside wasn’t an option due to rainy weather. No thanx! ... I dyed this (white) top more than a month ago and am stitching each of the stars. I don’t want to count how many more I have to go!!

20.01.2022 Well what a day...! 2 Christmas Bears Stitching workshops hosted at @badabingcafe who were generous enough to allow me to monopolize a couple of their tables in order to conduct them. The participants were all treated to some of the cafe fare as part of their ticket, which (as we know) is part and parcel of a good crafternoon. After each workshop I felt buoyed by everyone’s participation and enthusiasm. I was reminded why I started this hobby business and I’m so please...d to be getting back into it once more! In between my workshops, I allowed myself a lunch break to enjoy some sunshine by good ol’ Jackadder Lake. Thank you for all your support and interest and I look forward to promoting my future stitching workshops for children as well as journaling my arting and crafting explorations.

19.01.2022 Today I had the absolute pleasure of attending a Fabric Block Printing workshop run by the very talented @rubygracetd. I learned so much and got a great deal of enjoyment out of learning this new skill. I was also quite chuffed with the results! Thank you to my Mum & MIL who had given me @stackwood_ vouchers as my Christmas presents last year. It’s the kind of gift that keeps on giving. After the workshop in true Elise form, I stopped off at @jacksonsdrawingsupplies to g...rab a few of the ‘necessary items’ to continue playing at home. I tried my hand at a couple of the prints on cards. I’m looking forward to doing more and I can see myself printing some fabrics for future stitching kits for kids.

18.01.2022 Looking forward to attending the open day at @embroiderersguildofwa to meet, learn and share with fellow stitchers! I can only attend on Sunday 18th because on the previous day I’ll be learning how to make a stained glass piece of art @possumsrunglassart. Hoping my husband is still speaking to me by the end of that weekend!

18.01.2022 Beautiful sentiments but is nobody else going to talk about the tension - and I don’t mean about their past feud, I’m talking Taylor’s stitching!! Jokes.

18.01.2022 Friday Funny! Love this. Sounds like me... so who’s free?!

18.01.2022 I’ve been learning a new thing.... knitting. I have now reached full Nanna status with embroidery-crochet-knitting. Thanks @jessmfoster for your patience to teach me. I’m also looking forward to you helping me to fix all my mistakes in this piece!

15.01.2022 This one really resonates with me!

15.01.2022 I always love a bit of Frida Kahlo art. When I saw @coastalcreativesperth advertising a Frida mixed media workshop, I was keen! Firstly I asked permission of my daughter to attend with her and then I asked the business to be sure it was ok.We both genuinely looked forward to attending together. And what a lovely morning we both had together. We were seated opposite each other which was probably a good call so I couldn’t back seat drive her art! Our art teacher, Melissa ...was warm and friendly and I learned SO much from her as she offered just the right amount of information and provided more to those who needed the assistance. We’re always our worst critics when we create and it didn’t take me long to say that I should have made my Frida face more angular! Our art may not be outstanding but we certainly had fun and were both pleased with the overall result. My daughter is already talking about going back next holidays so hoping I can go again too! We both recommend and thank you @coastalcreativesperth!

14.01.2022 My goodness...! This was an embroidery piece I stitched a few years ago. Could be my second or third try with basic back stitch and satin stitch. I was learning A LOT about tension during this one. Needed a good iron! I’ve finally pulled it out of my pile of projects and am one step closer to using it. Just going to appliqué it onto a plain long sleeved shirt for my unicorn obsessed daughter.

12.01.2022 This was me this afternoon after my coffee. I culled a few things and made a little dent in the mess. But I still have a way to go!! I know I’m super duper lucky to have a spare room which I can use as my very own... should make more of an effort keeping it tidy but so many works in progress!

12.01.2022 Merry Christmas wreath for a workshop... but what colour should I do my basic font?

12.01.2022 Making stitching kits for Sunday’s workshop. I’ve gotta say, I’ve made these needle kits and they’re so gosh darned CUTE! Like a little old school match book! I can’t take credit for the idea. That belongs to Calli of a website called Make It Do - look for ‘Needles on the Go’ for some very concise instructions to make your own.

08.01.2022 I LOVE me a good scavenger hunt for the kids. A friend of mine put me onto them... I just look them up on Pinterest, print them out and then surreptitiously hide the clues around the house (when the kids aren’t looking). The kids have to work as a team taking turns to read the clues and solve the riddles which eventually lead to a little prize. It brings on such excitement! Today’s was a little wooden cut out requiring painting. *FUN* @ Perth, Western Australia

07.01.2022 My Dad made a couple of fairy houses for the kindergarten at which I work. Their sizes are more like hotels and luxury homes you might find in Applecross. Lucky fairies right?! A great deal of time went into making these. ... He also sells wooden trucks with moving wheels like the one I pulled along when I was a child. We say he’s like a grumpy Christmas Elf hence the pic. Prices for trucks range from $25-$35 and he attends Stirling Men’s Shed. He sells them to fuel his hobby. Just sent me a DM if you wanted to purchase one. x @ Perth, Western Australia

07.01.2022 I asked my daughter if I may join her at this art workshop during the school holidays and she was excited by the prospect. As she’s such a tween, I have to make the most of her wanting Mum around. After gaining permission from @coastalcreativesperth we’re all booked in to enjoy a Mummy-Daughter date to create one of our favs! Can anyone take my other child for a play date?

06.01.2022 That was then and this is now.... Our front bench in its original form almost 10 years ago with our fav cat Camden (RIP ) and now... with its second revamp and a different chalk paint colour. Me and my mate Ace - photo captured by my 9 year old Alex. x @ Perth, Western Australia

06.01.2022 Being an animal lover as well as an owner of animals that like to destroy soft toys, this made me smile! https://www.facebook.com/416713085815190/posts/833391587480669/?extid=QvXaKNsPfiYnfQqo&d=n

04.01.2022 Hands up who likes cats... I do...!! I have one more Chrissy cat kit left for stitching @ $20.... Local pick up welcome (Greenwood, WA).

03.01.2022 It’s been a while but hubby and I caught up over wine and water colour painting. I’ve been practicing my drawings (doodles) and adding some colour.

01.01.2022 One of my many guilty pleasures is to visit a cafe for a coffee and a little stitch. I’m ok to do this on my own. It doesn’t happen every week but it’s my favourite version of find 30. A bonus is when I’m listening to a really good audio book. Today’s was A Nearly Normal Family by M. T. Evardsson - quite thrilling and couldn’t stop listening.... I visited a very nice and friendly cafe @littledonkeycorner and fell in love with this gorgeous wall hanging which must have been macrame.

01.01.2022 *CHILDREN’S EMBROIDERY WORKSHOP - CHRISTMAS BEARS* Saturday 31 October - details coming soon!
