06.01.2022 Hey... on this auspicious day of my birth I thought I would share something about Me...Monica, the HOO & the RAH behind Hoorah Events. I have always been a maker & creator and started my career an eon ago as an apprentice Tailor at State Theatre Company of South Australia. In that former life I learnt how to make Mens costumes; from lush Period Jerkins to modern sharp suits to fantasy whacked out costumes that had to perform all sorts of tricks. I learnt how to work as pa...rt of a team & most importantly how to problem solve. From there I moved to New York & continued creating costumes for Broadway shows but in a weird twist of fate began assisting a celebrity Stylist, working on Fashion campaigns, magazine shoots & music videos. It was all very Devil Wears Prada..a real eye opener for a girl from l'il old Adelaide. I ended up going out on my own Styling for 10 years in the Big Apple & was incredibly lucky to travel & work with a huge cross section of people from all walks of life. We relocated to the South Coast 10 years ago. I thought it would be great for the kids to have a backyard & I would try my hand at being a full time mum & domestic goddess...I soon realised that being domestic was not really my jam. Started Hoorah Events after having a blast helping a friend with her wedding at our local surf club...I am an absolute LOVER of a good party! I am passionate about LIFE, and living it, 'cos this shit is real, and its finite. I LOVE creating spaces for people to celebrate and experiences that are immersive in some way. I have a tendency to call everyone "gorge"...because I do consider EVERYONE to be gorgeous I am a giver, like everyone in this industry & struggle with saying no, so self care can often take a back seat. As a creative, I struggle with self doubt & am incredibly thankful to all the people in my life who hold the space for me to WIG OUT, as to be human, you just gotta go on the "wig" sometimes. Thrilled to join forces with @amybowestylist this year and pursue my passion for interiors with @southcoaststyling So cheers to sparkles, fat funky bass beats, chocolate and all the things that bring you some HOO-RAH!!
