20.01.2022 Electric shock collars in south Australia are illegal. You are facing up to a $10k fine and up to a year imprisonment. Ive come across 2 in the last couple weeks. With not seeing any the whole time I have been grooming here. I just thought I share this in case people are still unaware that they are ILLEGAL and there is a reason why they have been banned. ... There are other types you can purchase or ask a vet what’s the best alternative. https://www.rspcasa.org.au/the-issues/lead-by-example/

20.01.2022 Well that’s a rap for this week, hope everyone stays sane over the 6 day lock down and fingers crossed it doesn’t go longer than that. Sorry for my appTs being stuffed up this week, and not sure how we will go moving forward with the next ones. I’ll look into it closer to when we can get back into it :-)

13.01.2022 Matilda (also known as Tilda or Tilly) Our darling little lady Matilda is now ready to look for her Pawsome Furever Loving Home! Matilda is a Mini F...ox Terrier x Tenterfield Terrier mix, we think she is nearly 15 years old & Matilda is a very petite lady, weighing just over 4 kg’s of cuteness. Matilda is a very sweet natured little pooch, Matilda loves having cuddles & is the Pawfect pooch for being on your lap. Our darling lady also has a splash of cheeky thrown in Matilda would be fine with another small senior dog, but we actually DO think that Madame Matilda would prefer to be an only pooch & not have to share her human(s). (We are unsure if Matilda would like cats, as she has not had interaction with them since being in our care.) As darling Matilda is a senior lady, we are looking for a senior human(s) home that will fit in with her lifestyle & human(s) that are home most of the time. Matilda is perfect around the home, she is quite sprightly for her age but is also happy to snooze or potter in the garden with you, and she also travels well in a car. Matilda has a low grade Heart Murmur, so we have started her on Medications, which she will require for life. Note: The approximate cost of the medications is $40.00 per month, so this cost will need to be taken into consideration by her forever family. When Matilda arrived into Holly’s care she had a worrying cough. We chose to have chest x-rays done & no cause was found there, which was good news. It seems that her cough is from scar tissue in her throat, the cough is intermittent & doesn’t cause her any distress, so no further treatment can be done or is needed. Matilda’s adoption fee is $180.00 Matilda has had a thorough vet health check, including a dental. Matilda is desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated & worm treated. If you think we might be good together, please do an application using this link: www.hollysrescueforseniordogs.org/application-to-adopt ** PLEASE NOTE: Holly’s Rescue is located in South Australia & our beloved pooches are NOT available for interstate adoption ** Hugs & Smooches to all Rescue Pooches xx

07.01.2022 Heya, I’ve hurt my back / knee or something so appTs for next couple weeks are going to be very scarce. Not the best timing in my busy period. I’m still grooming but nowhere near as much as I have been. And trying to take more than a couple days off in a row to rest it. Thanks for your patience and hopefully it won’t upset things too much. and just a reminder. I don’t groom big dogs, nor do I groom border collies ...or bigger long coat breeds. As this is what happens when I over do it. Cheers Lisa

06.01.2022 Man, this girl is hard to take photos of! But this one is in focus and shows a cute tail blur. Lola was adopted 7/9/2020.

05.01.2022 Ole Zoe had a home hair cut that needed a lil touch up ... such a pretty girl!

04.01.2022 If you don’t have a zoom groom for this type coat, I suggest buying one. They are literally amazing!

03.01.2022 **At this stage we now have a foster carer for Bolt. Thank you to everyone that offered to help.** Foster Carer Needed!! Hi, I'm Bolt! I'm a 3-year-old Border C...ollie and the happiest dog you might ever meet! Although I can be shy when I meet new people, I do warm up fast and turn into my happy self. I have lots of energy and love to play with my toys. I am a very good boy and will share toys with you, because then you might play with me too! I love to spend time with you playing so much that I don’t like it when you leave. Dogs interest me however I can be selective which dog I like. I would love a foster home who would keep me interested by training me and allowing me to be with you by your side. I do tend to bark a bit when left alone so will need someone that is home most of the time and if you do go out which I know you will from time to time you will need to give me plenty of things to do, but Scruffer Lovers can help you with that. Though I could go on property you would need to make sure you have none of those woolly things you call sheep as I find them quite interesting, chickens are also not my thing either. I would like space to run around and I am a very good listener and do come back to you when you ask (aren’t I a good boy). If you can help me out for a while until I can find my forever home, I would be very grateful and you never know you could fall head over heels in love with me and I could stay with you forever and ever. Hope to meet you soon Bolt. xxxx Please PM our page or send an email to [email protected] if you are able to help out.

01.01.2022 I’m sorry but how cute are they!!!!

01.01.2022 Morning, As past customers would have noticed there have been some price changes, Some I haven’t quite had the pricing right. With saying this, every dog is priced individually dependant on coat condition, difficulty etc. my price list is a guide only and the actual cost of the groom will be determined at completion. With the weather starting to warm up, things will start to get busier round here. My suggestion is to pre book to save a spot for your pooch. We are about to go into the busiest time of year, with a lot of my long term clients prebooking right up to jan/feb. Anyway , have a great day

01.01.2022 Working at the animal shelter, we hear all different reasons why people need to surrender their pets to us. Moving, allergies, frequently escaping from the home..., divorce, etc. But when it comes down to surrendering a heeler (Australian Cattle Dog), it’s almost the exact same reason every time. He’s biting us Being very nippy He keeps chasing my kids and biting their ankles Too mouthy, and getting rough Going after people and/or other animals These photos (credit to Jeff Jaquish) show exactly why the dog is displaying this behavior. They are bred to work. They are bred to herd and handle large livestock, even the mean, nasty ones. Not all cows are nice and go where you want. They are bred to bite. So you take this fluffy cute puppy, raise it in a pet home and not provide any drive satisfaction, that breed’s genetic make up of specific desires and needs come out. One way or another. Biting, destruction, running away. Research the breed before you commit. Know what individual breeds are bred to do, and within those breeds know what breeders breed for in traits because there are so many degrees of traits within a breed standard. Pet home vs working dog. (Note: pet homes still have variations of drive levels.) And if you don’t have cows, or able to provide the sole purpose that dog was bred to do (hunting, racing, detection), give it another type of job (dog sports for example) that can satisfy the dog mentally and physically. Plus train, train, train! Most importantly, it’s a life time commitment, so make it a happy one for you and your dog by getting to know your dog’s world better. Update: my post is in regards of dog behavior, genetics and drive satisfaction. I’m not saying if a dog bites or mouths it’s meaning the dog is aggressive. In addition, a dog with working traits can still make a good family dog when their needs are met. Also if you own a dog that bites, seek a professional to determine the underlying reason. (Feel free to share!)
