14.01.2022 Tensions in Nigeria are escalating after demonstrators in the city of Lagos were fired upon by military personnel this week. According to new reports, violent clashes broke out and a number of people were shot dead and several wounded. Demonstrators have been calling for an end to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a controversial police unit which has been accused of illegal detentions, assaults and shootings. While President Buhari officially disbanded the unit earlier ...this month, people are demanding that more changes be made to the security forces and further reforms required to ensure the safety of the people and justice to be upheld.
