25.01.2022 Rocky, our therapy dog, is showing how kind and helpful he can be. We sometimes never know the impact that our smallest acts of kindness have on others. We encourage you to take the time to make a quick call to a friend or relative who is isolated. Write a letter and post it (or kids, draw a picture and post it). Bake something for somebody. The possibilities are endless. Share your random acts of kindness, given or received, with us. Ideas shared build a stronger community.

25.01.2022 Anxiety is more than worry ... but the good news is that help is readily available. Change is possible!

25.01.2022 Managing life and lifes challenges together is one of the greatest blessings we have as human beings. To look out for one another and to help each other carry burdens creates hope and energy to keep going. Whilst a snowflake is one of the most beautiful and unique things on its own, it is fragile and it needs to share itself with all the other beautiful and unique snowflakes to create the bigger picture. #weareinthistogether #staystrong

21.01.2022 We are pleased to share the second in a series of 3 videos that Hopefield has created in collaboration with Georges River Council on building resilience as part of mental health month. These short videos are designed to be shared with children to help them understand how their brain functions in really simple terms, what happens when they get anxious and how they can overcome these feelings. A huge thanks to Georges River Council for initiating and pulling it all together and our very own Kerry Moss. If you missed the first video, we've attached that also. https://bit.ly/3o7IjyJ -session 1 https://bit.ly/3o7IjyJ - session 2

19.01.2022 We have been ready to open the op shop this week, however due to recent updates on COVID-19 cases across the Sutherland Shire we are taking the precautionary approach and regrettably will not go ahead with the planned opening this week. We have decided to delay this for another couple of weeks and to re-assess the situation at that time. We continue to be keen to re-open, but safety is a priority and we would rather open and remain open than have to close a few days later.

09.01.2022 Homelessness is not a choice! Uncertainty, physical discomfort, lack of security, challenge in using amenities- even just having a good cooked meal. Homelessness is not a choice. Over the years at Hopefield we have supported many people in securing housing and they come from backgrounds as wide and varied as anyone reading this post. Along with other like-minded services and individuals, we are aiming to restore dignity and worth to every individual. As this week is homele...ssness week in Australia, some things you can do are: Educate - help to dispel the stereotype of a homeless person! Learn about the reasons for homelessness - every situation is unique. Respect - remember that people who are homeless are people too. Give people who are homeless the same respect and courtesy you would your family and friends. Donate - you can donate a lot of things - money, toys, clothing or food https://www.hopefield.org.au/donations.aspx Volunteer - you can volunteer not only your time but your skills and expertise.
