19.01.2022 Hope for buns is really struggling to keep the doors open lately and we don’t like asking for help we really try to cover all the costs our selves, we are a small rescue but our bills are still big, we are behind in our vet bills and we are currently struggling to buy more hay every week, so paisley thought we could ask our hope for buns family for help with donations to fill up our hay shed, any amount would be gratefully appreciated even some bales of oaten hay directly t...o us would be awesome! Thanks guys PayPal: [email protected]

18.01.2022 Myxomatosis alert ! We’ve sadly heard of cases in the last week all over Melbourne - western suburbs / laverton/ footscray, diamond creek, and in the city. Ther...e is no vaccine for Myxo in Australia , and no cure . It is transmitted either by direct ( nose to nose) contact with infected rabbits, or by mosquito bites. It causes fever and swelling of the eyes, ears and genitalia. The best defense is to keep your rabbits completely indoors, especially at dawn and dusk, when mosquitoes are most active. If you can’t keep them indoors then use mosquito netting. Stay safe everyone! See more

16.01.2022 It’s that time of year again when some people think of adding a cute bunny to the family. Yes they bring so Much joy full of personality and make amazing pets but a few things to think of before committing to getting one

16.01.2022 Kinda unhappy with this one, had too much story/ideas in my mind, but too few pages lol. Anyway, the message is still important. Rabbits often suffer from poor keeping and are often abandoned, especially around Easter time.

16.01.2022 Rabbit found on blackwood crescent churchill. Please pm us if this is your baby

15.01.2022 Scary Disease Alert We’ve been seeing quite a few cases of myxomatosis in the last few weeks, and reports from other regional areas and states are also showin...g increased numbers. Myxomatosis is a disease of rabbits. It is spread by biting insects such as fleas and mosquitos. Myxomatosis is fatal in close to 100% of cases. It can cause swelling around the nose, ears, mouth and genitals. As it progresses it attacks the rabbits respiratory system and over a period of 4-6 weeks they die of lung failure or inability to eat. It is a horrible disease, and one for which we do not have a vaccine in Australia. What you can do to keep your rabbits safe: - Keep them inside at dawn and dusk when mozzies are most active - Cover outdoor hutches with mozzie netting - Use safe flea prevention on your rabbits monthly - Get your rabbit vaccinated against calicivirus. It won’t prevent myxo, however it’s another nasty disease with no cure, which we can help prevent with vaccinations.

12.01.2022 We've started seeing all the ads for baby bunnies as xmas presents for children. Guess where a large amount of these babies are going to end up because familie...s don't realise how much care they need? Yes that's right, with the already overcrowded rescues working their butts off to try to help as many people as possible in desperate situations. We put a freeze on adoptions over xmas because we need to educate more people on the fact that BUNNIES SHOULD NEVER BE PRESENTS See more

12.01.2022 From a unwanted pet alone and scared at the pound, to a loved family member at hope for buns, and now finally a loving forever home with a beautiful husbun a whole house to run in and a giant bed to snuggle into with her new mum and dad, this is why I rescue it’s the best feeling in the world seeing one of my babies living the life they so very much deserved! Live your best life darling Cindel

11.01.2022 what a adorable line up of bunnies you might think... Only this is the line of bunnies currently waiting for rescue in just one pound. How heartbreaking that E...aster is not even upon us, yet we are seeing so many homeless or dumped rabbits. We do not know their background, the story of how they got where they are. All we know is they need help NOW! That is the self assigned job we have given ourselves as rescue, to save as many rabbits as we can. However we can not do it alone, With 60 rabbits already in our care. We simply can not fit all of these rabbits in. How do we choose? why should some be saved and others suffer a terrible fate. These animals are all deserving of a second chance and we want to give them that chance. Will you help us by fostering one or more of these bunnies? both short term or long term is appreciated. We currently do not have access to our email, so please message us here if you can throw a bunny a lifeline. Bunnies are located in Melbourne and can be collected from Oakleigh South or Frankston south. Transport can also be arranged
